FRANK MERRILL 1951 - 1982 STATION AGENT, STATION AMANGER VEL I know that Frank Merrill, former station Manager in VEL, has passed on, however I don't have any information. Dean Reynolds worked there for many years with him and to the best of my knowledge still lives in VEL and may have pictures etc. -Coy Preece (7/17/06) Thanks for the info on Frank Merrill. I hadn't heard about his death. I'll investigate. -Jake Lamkins (7/17/06) Posted at the FL Club: VEL manager Frank Merrill has died. Coy Preece emailed, "I also know that Frank Merrill former station Manager in VEL has passed on, however I don't have any information." Does anyone have more info about Frank? -Jake Lamkins (7/17/06) (This obituary appears to be Frank's son and says Frank died in 1989) Brent Wayne Merrill Brent Wayne Merrill slipped the bonds of this earth as he peacefully slept Jan. 11, 2006. He joined his dad and younger brother in heaven and surely kissed his newest granddaughter as she began her journey to earth later that day. Born of goodly parents, Frank and Donna (Hatch) Merrill, May 8, 1955. He learned to appreciate and see the beauty of this earth as he became an Eagle Scout and hunter. He served an honorable mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Vera Cruz, Mexico, where he learned to love the Spanish people he served. To this day he spoke Spanish and cranked up his Latin music every chance he got. He loved to return to Mexico on vacation with trinkets for the Mexican children he might meet and returned home with suitcases of souvenirs he got a 'deal' on. Brent is survived by his loving mother, Donna; brother and best friend, Randall; sisters, Susan (Darrell) Hawkins, Nancy (Uipo) Saena; children, Quin (Hillary) Merrill, Brindy (JR) Bird; and his beloved grandchildren, Joey and Morgan Merrill, Jarom, Sharyse, and Brianne Bird. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his hero and father, Frank Merrill (1989); and infant brother, Stephan Lynn. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006, 11:00 a.m. in the Vernal 6th Ward Chapel, 850 W. 100 N., Vernal. Viewing was held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary, and one hour prior to services at the chapel. If Brent could have told us all a final goodbye he would have said, "Love ya, take care. Thanks for all you do for me." -VERNAL EXPRESS (1/17/06) FRANK MERRILL Born 04 Oct 1922 Died 07 Jul 1989 Age 66 SSN issued in Washington -SSDI (7/17/06) F Merrill is on the Wells Fargo ESOP "Lost List". F MERRILL seniority date of 4/23/51 on the 11/1/55 FL/ALEA seniority list. -Jake Lamkins (7/17/06) Dean Reynolds was no kid when I covered VEL. I thought I read he was the airport manager after FL pulled out. Dean kept a message WDG sent reporting "numerous tornados in front of the terminal." The other agent was Frank Merrill and he's probably gone too. Dean and Frank hated each other and didn't speak to one another! That sure made a three-man station an interesting place. Of course, I smoked then so I'm sure they had problems with me but were so grateful to have the vacation coverage they never said a word. Geoff Morneau (12/28/12) F.
