FLETCH HUSKEY 1953 - 1955 / 1966 - 1986 STATION AGENT, PILOT FMN PHX DFW DEN My name is Wallace E. Carroll, Jr. (also known as Pat). I was hired by FAL and started DC-3 school on May 22 or 23, 1966. My classmates were George Dardano, Gary Staves, Terry Jackson, Tom Smith, Fletcher Huskey, Gary Williams, and two others whose names escape me. We all lived in the EI Patio Motel on East Colfax and hung out in the Blue Onion Bar/Restaurant. With the exception of Terry Jackson (formerly at Alaska Airlines) and Fletcher Huskey (formerly at another airline) each of us had less than 1000 hrs. total flying time. As I recall I had about 670 hrs. and only one hour of actual instrument time (in a Cessna 182). That period in time FAL was pretty short of pilots for the expansion it was going through, thus the lowering of experience requirements. -Pat Carroll (4/27/09) After completing my agent training in DEN in early 1953 I was assigned to FMN. Looking for a place to live it was recommended that I talk to Bob who as well as being an agent managed an old home that had rooms to rent. It was a sad looking place but one couldn't be very picky in 1953 FMN. I believe nine of us lived in the house and while people came and went almost all worked for Frontier. Frankly, the place was a three ring circus and Bob was the ringmaster who tried to maintain order in the midst of chaos. Among those who lived there were Charlie Southerland, Gerry Bacon and my friend and roommate Fletcher Huskey when he was a station agent. -Ira Kemp (7/22/11) F. J. Nothing at Switchboard.com -Jake Lamkins (7/22/11) My name is Fletcher Huskey. I retired (medical) as a captain in 1983. Started as a station agent in 1953 and as a pilot in the late 1960s. I was primarily based in DEN. Then I bred, trained & raced quarterhorses for 20+ years. Currently continue to oversee ranch operations at 84 years old. -Fletcher Huskey (7/23/18) I have attached the obituary for my father Fletcher Huskey. He started as a gate agent with Frontier and later went on to be a pilot until he took medical retirement in 1983. He had a very full life after retirement from Frontier breeding, raising, training and racing quarter horses and overseeing operations on the family ranch in Poolville, Texas, outside of Ft. Worth. He subscribed to the Frontier News and very much enjoyed reading it. He made his final voyage on June 17, 2019, departing from his home after a full day of activities the day prior, Father's Day. On behalf of my father and myself, I want to thank you for the immense amount of time and dedication you have contributed to the newsletter and the OldFrontierAirlines.com website. -Sarah Huskey (8/4/19) Dear Sarah, My condolences on your loss. I appreciate you letting me know. I will spread the word to Fletch's many friends at Frontier and build him a memorial webpage at the Frontier website. I'll email you when I complete it. Feel free to email me anything you want included on it. A photo of him in his Frontier uniform would be great.
