EDNA MCADAMS HORNE 1978 - 1986 FLIGHT ATTENDANT DFW DEN I was a Flight Attendant for our beloved Frontier Airlines from 1978 till the end. I was then hired by UAL as a Flight Attendant and got based in Newark. United hired quite a few of us, recognizing the value of an experienced employee. Although I felt that there was an element of exploitation, I was grateful to have a job. I married a UAL pilot in 1990 and moved to New Hampshire. That was the best thing that ever happened to me.(along with working for Frontier). A base opened in Boston and I transferred there. I retired at the end of August last year just prior to 9/11 and moved to the "Red Neck Riviera". I stay in touch with a few former FAL fa's that were hired by United. I attended the two reunions held last month in Denver with my good friend Kayla Naima (formerly Pfeiffer). She was in reservations at FAL. I met Kayla when we were both hired by United as Flight Attendants. There were a few people there that I had known at FAL. I have been wondering if any of you knew Irma Spell who was domicile manager in the FA base in DFW. She was my good friend who got me hired with Frontier. She came to Denver when the DFW base was closed. Sometime shortly afterward she left Frontier. I stayed in touch with her for a while but lost contact with her. Does anyone out there know what happened to her? If there any former Frontier FA's or Pilots on line I would love to hear from you. -Edna McAdams Thompson Horne. (7/25/02) I remember Joy Alley Smith's name and I am sure if I saw her I would recognize her. Her name is very familiar to me. I was hired at Frontier in 1978.I was a hairdresser, living in Fort Worth. One of my customers was Erma Spell. She got me on with FAL and I was based in DFW initially. I think they must have closed DFW and I transferred to DEN. I fell in love with Frontier and Denver. I was so proud to work for FAL. I had my checking account at the credit union, and when I would write a check at the grocery store or any where, people would say "wow you work for Frontier!" and I would PROUDLY say "YES! I work for Frontier!" Those almost 8 years are the most memorable and fun years of my life. When FAL went down, UAL had an open house for all of us and I was one of the "lucky" Ones who were hired. I was based in Newark. There were several of us who were based there, so it wasn't too bad, although it wasn't FRONTIER!!!!!!. I married a wonderful man who was a Pilot with UAL. He was based in New York and flew out of Newark, Kennedy and LaGuardia. He was living in New Hampshire when we met. I moved from Denver to NH. We are both retired now and living in the Panhandle of Florida, where my Daughter and 3 of my Grand Children and my Great Grand Daughter, Elizabeth Gabriella live. I did not work for 4 years, until recently, when I was able to get my hairdressers license here in Florida. I work Monday, Wednesday and Friday. By the way, my name was Edna McAdams when I was at FAL. I would love to hear from other Frontier FA's and Pilots that might remember me. -Edna McAdams Horne (10/22/05) FL Club posting: I am a former FAL flight attendant. I was a good friend of Irma Spell. I was a hairdresser at the time, (she was a customer of mine) and she told me that she could get me on with Frontier Airlines! I was quite sceptical that she could actually get me on with Fal. But the next thing I knew, I had a ticket to fly to Denver ! I had an interview and Irma sat in on the interview. I was hired on the spot!!!! I fell in love with Frontier and was so excited. I moved to Denver and fell in love with Denver. I was so proud to be a flight attendant for Frontier Airlines! Unfortunately, FAL went out of business . United Airlines held an open house for the Fal employees, as many of you remember. I was based in Newark and a few of the FA's and I rented a big house near the airport. I met a wonderful UA pilot who flew out of New York. He transfered to Denver to work in the UAL training center, and moved in with me, and paid me rent. At that time I was very poor, having to start at the bottom of the pay scale! We decided to get married and we had our wedding in my little victorian house in Denver! My little grand son and grand daughter were my attendants. They are now grown and I am a Great Grandma. We moved to the Florida panhandle after both of us retired. We live at the beach and love it !!! I would love to hear from anyone who might have known me . -Edna McAdams Horne (3/30/09) E E MCADAMS Flight attendant seniority date of 10/28/78 on the 2/1/81 FL/AFA seniority list. I believe she was an In Flight Supervisor. If I remember correctly, she was a friend of yours. I remember telling her that I that wanted to move to Hawaii. Erma said, "Edna, you don't want to move to Hawaii" they don't want us over there!!!!!!! I can get you on with Frontier!!! I thought to my self "yea right"!!! The next thing I knew, I had a ticket to fly to Denver with Erma. She sat in on my interview, and I was hired on the spot!!!!! I fell in love with Frontier and Denver. As you know, United held an open house for the Frontier employees. I was hired, as many of us were. I met a United Airlines Pilot on a layover. I thought to myself,it was a shame that FAL went out of business so that I could meet him. I am very happy with him. He is the best husband I ever had. "3rd time's a charm" !!!!!!! UAL was not anywhere as cool as FRONTIER!!!!! I retired from United just before 911. Who would have ever imagined that any thing like that could have happened??? I would love to hear from anyone that might have known me. -Edna McAdams Horne. (5/5/10) FL Club in response to a FLight West post: I wish that we could hear more good news of the wonderful experiences that we as FAL friends and colleagues who loved our wonderful FRONTIER AIRLINES!!!!!!! We know that we all will someday go to a better place. Let us remember the joyfulness that we all had as being so fortunate to have been FRONTIER AIRLINES EMPLOYEES!!!!!!!! I would love to hear from any Flight Attendants and Pilots that might remember me. I wish that we could hear from former Frontier employees that are still alive. We all know that we will die sooner or later, but I would love to hear the good news of NOW!!!!!! We who are still alive and would love to remember those wonderful times we had, should be thankful for the joyful opportunity that we were so blessed with. -Edna McAdams Horne (10/17/10) Edna was diagnosed (with Alzhemer's) 8 yrs ago - the signs were there long before. Kayla Naima My flying buddy for many years. We buddy bid and commuted for years from Denver to EWR! We had decent seniority there. Mainly flew 1 leg to SFO and a nice layover at the Ben Franklin Hotel. Later it would be by the wharf. We loved to antique and shop and try new eateries and the wine and champagne was flowing , plus we loved partaking in high tea. Edna was a very special lady and wonderful friend, I will miss her terribly. She had been ill for many years but had the great fortune to be married to an extra ordinary man, Captain Douglas Horne. Edna had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's over 10 years ago. Doug took extremely good loving care of Edna! She was his world and he is heartbroken to lose the love of his life. (5/7/19) Mary Anne Paszkiewicz Nice, nice woman! So sad to hear of her passing! Carol Landeis I flew with Edna on a UA flight where we had a Maine L/O, thinking Portland. Doug was there, maybe they had a home, can not remember all of the details. But what I do remember is they invited me to join them on a dinner out. Of course, we had lobster, very kind and generous indeed. Edna was also marvelous on the plane, truly a ft attendants flt attendant. My condolences to her loved ones. And thank you Kayla for sharing your friendship with Edna for all of us to share in. (5/8/19)
