ED SCHROEDER 1968 - 1986 AIRCRAFT MECHANIC DEN Please sign me up. I have enclosed $40 to cover costs of all the back issues and your FL Files on a CD. I was a mechanic in DEN from March 1968 to the END. I am currently with UA in DEN and get to go through another bankruptcy. (YEA) I enjoyed the FL NEWS you sent and look forward to getting all of them. -Edward Schroeder (12/18/02) Re: FL Bankruptcy We needs to remember that it wasn't just a couple of pilots that went to UA after the bankruptcy. There were numerous other employees hired by United. (i.e. CSR's, Ramp Service, Mechanics, etc.) Many of them are still there. Me included. I would be willing to bet that, at the time, had you been offered a job with UA, you would have jumped at the chance. -Ed Schroeder Old FAL Alumnus (8/22/04) Letter Hi Jake, I was the successful bidder on E-Bay for the Airliner's magazine with "The First Frontier" article. It is an excellent article and I am sending you a copy on this disk. I talked with Betsy White at Airliner magazine about re-printing the article and she said it would be very expensive, and the minimum quantity would be 100 copies. She also said that if we only wanted a "few" copies, "not to sell", go ahead and copy them. Here is a disc that I made with scanned pictures of the article, along with some misc. pictures that I had. Enjoy, -Ed Schroeder (12/31/07) Hi Ed, Thanks so much for the disc with the article and FL pix. Great stuff. -Jake Lamkins (12/31/07) Posted at FLacebook: I worked at FL from Mar. 1968 to Aug. 1986 as a Mechanic in DEN. I started as an Avionics Tech on the Line. I also worked in the Electrical Accy. shop, the Hydraulic Shop and the Brake and Landing gear shop. After the close, went to UA in DEN and was there until I retired in Feb. 2007. -Ed Schroeder (11/25/09) FLacebook post about Ed's Jun 2015 photo You have to admire a man who knows how to dress up. This is DEN aircraft mechanic Ed Schroeder and I am willing to rassle him for the hat. He was mechanic for Frontier from day one to the buy out out of Stapleton. He went to work for United where he retired at DIA. Sean, I'm sorry to hear this sad news. I'll share it with the FLamily. Ed and I kept in touch over the years. My condolences to you and the family. I'll put him on my queue for a memorial webpage. Is there an obituary yet? -Jake Lamkins (6/14/22) Another FLight West Reported ED SCHROEDER 1968 - 1986 AIRCRAFT MECHANIC DEN Ed's son Sean notified me that Ed flew west last Tue, Jun 7, 2022. He was 81 years old. -Jake Lamkins (6/14/22) On Tuesday June 7th 2022 we lost Edward Schroeder, husband to Sharon Murphy Schroeder, father to Lori Lynn Barker, Sean Schroeder, Mathew Schroeder. He was 81 years old and was probably the one of the kindest, most generous person you could know. He served in the Army as a radio man, and afterwards he worked most of his life as an aircraft mechanic for Frontier Airlines and United Airlines where he had retired from. He loved sailing and camping and spending time with his family and friends. Dad, you will be missed dearly and we all know you are now walking in Heaven with your parents and sisters and all the rest of family and and friends we have lost. You are not suffering from pain no more. I love you Dad and miss you dearly. -Sean Schroeder (6/14/22) Ed was the best father-in-law a girl could ask for. He was my go to person for gardening questions. I wish I could send him pictures of my hollyhocks, he could tell me the best spices to use when cooking, got my car running when Sean wasn’t available, always made sure my favorite drink was available when I stopped by. And so so so much more. I don’t have words for how much he will be missed. -Yvonne Schroeder (6/13/22) Gary Ames Hi Jake, Was that the same Ed Schroeder who was a union steward and worked with Dad? Big man, wore glasses? Pretty sure there was only one. If you find an obituary let me know and I'll look too. Thanks! Jake Lamkins Yep, it sure looks like him. Here he is all "dressed up." (Jun 2015 pic) It takes a MAN to wear a hat like that. His son says obituary will be out this week. Gary Ames Thank you Jake.
