No other info. -Jake Lamkins (5/3/11) Don Madden Gone West Jim, Cheryl and I send our sincerest condolences to you and the Madden Family. Ironically, I drove by the large S2F storage facility at Falcon Field today and, of course, thought of Don. As you'll recall, Don and I were close in seniority, at Frontier, and even shared a crash-pad or two along the way. After Frontier, we both were in the America West Training Department. I know it must be difficult for you as I am having a hard time accepting his having departed on Runway Two-Seven! When you can, please let us know the details. Jake Lamkins will, no doubt, be setting up a memorial to Don on the Frontier FLamily website. I will forward that to you when he has it. Please send a few photos so that Jake might include those in Don's page. -Billy Walker (4/7/19) FLacebook - FL Club More FLights West Word received that Den Pilot Don Madden departed last Friday from a heart attack and DEN manager-media relations Mary Budke Swanson left last February. Thank you so much for sharing them with me! Here is what I have so far: Don Robert Madden, 78, of Eufaula, OK, passed away Friday, April 5, 2019 at the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. Don was born on September 30, 1940, in Coalgate, Oklahoma the son of Burt Manley and Dorothy Mildred (Burns) Madden. He graduated from Liberal High School in Liberal, Kansas. He received his Associates Degree from Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton. On March 8, 1963, Don enlisted in the United States Navy. While in the Navy, he was a naval aviator completing 250 night carrier landings. He was honorably discharged in 1968. Don worked as an airline pilot and flight instructor for Frontier Airlines and America West for over 37 years. He enjoyed fishing, music, cooking, travel and classic cars and had a big heart for animals. Don was passionate about flying! He was a truly amazing pilot and absolutely loved it. He was the happiest when he was flying a plane. Frontier Airlines held a dear place in his heart and he treasured being a part of the forever family of Frontier. He has the utmost respect for every branch of the military and was incredibly proud to be an American & part of the Navy. Survivors include: his daughter, Lorenda DiGiacomo of Colorado; his brother, Jim Madden and wife, Tish of Colorado; his grandchildren, Nicholette Rose DiGiacomo and Julianna Loray DiGiacomo; his former wife, Bertie Lou Madden and his nieces, Ashlee Falivene and Deb Brannon all of Colorado. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Scott Madden. -Lorenda (Madden) DiGiacomo (4/13/19) Thanks, Lorenda; If you're on Facebook, put Old Frontier Airlines in the Facebook search and come join us. Lots of Don's friends are posting about him. -Jake Lamkins (4/13/19) Thank you, Jake! I just joined the FB page. Warms my heart... He'd been fighting cancer for the past 4+ years but was doing well. He went in for a routine checkup and they found more cancer. He had just finished going through the treatments for that and was actually getting stronger. He had extremely low blood pressure, however and had a heart attack this past Thurs. He passed away at 7:15pm on Friday. It shocked all of us. I was so thankful to be able to be there with him and hold his hand. It's been a pretty rough week but I know my dad is not hurting any more. Enjoy each and every day. You never know if you will be blessed with a tomorrow. -Lorenda (Madden) DiGiacomo (4/14/19) Great to have you with us.
