DON HATFIELD 1969 - 1985 DIRECTOR - INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS DEN I am mediator at the NMB in DC. I heard Don died. So too did Buz Larkin. I had a 1985 or so employee roster with names and addresses but I haven't seen it for some time. If I find it you can have it to use in the club. Stay in touch. -Jack Kane (2/16/99) I heard that Don Hatfield also passed but have not confirmed that with anyone. -Carolyn Boller (7/8/99) HOWARD S HATFIELD Born 23 Jan 1934 Died 15 Jan 1996 Age 62 almost SSN issued in Iowa -SSDI (5/17/03) Don's middle name was Sheldon. It was traditional, he told me, to call the boys in his family by the last syllable of their middle name. He was self taught in industrial relations and did not have a degree. I worked with him closely 1980 - 84 when I was the Master Chairman of FL ALEA. We solved many problems together. Industrial Relations and the operations folks, especially Jim Shores, did not see eye to eye on many contractual issues. Numerous times issues had to go to Don's boss, Buz Larkin - VP Industrial Relations, to overide field and operations decisions. -Jake Lamkins (5/19/03) Sandy Bambei wrote in a letter dated 12-12-87, "Don Hatfield is back here in Denver with Continental, Butch saw him a few weeks ago at the airport - said he looked "fat". He had a bad heart attack and was quite ill for a long time." -Jake Lamkins (1/1/05) And Don Hatfield supposedly works for a bus company in Roswell, NM. PIGnic Bulletin, April 1, 1988 -Jake Lamkins (8/23/05) H. S. "Don" Hatfield Died Jan 15, 1996 age 62 Born Jan 23, 1934 Date of hire Jun 2, 1969 -Ken Schultz database (5/14/07) Don left FL in 1985 or so and went to IAHCO. The 1/1/70 FL Telephone Directory lists Don Hatfield, Director-Industrial Relations -Jake Lamkins (7/19/08) FL Club Subject: Updated memorial webpage DON HATFIELD 1969 - 1985 DIRECTOR - INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS DEN http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Don_Hatfield.html Three more items added to Don's webpage. Post your remembrances. -Jake Lamkins (8/17/10) FLacebook - FL Club DEN director-industrial relations Don Hatfield's memorial webpage has been updated: http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Don_Hatfield.html Seven items added but still need an obituary for Don. -Jake Lamkins (5/6/15) Don and I solved a lot of problems the four years I was ALEA Master Chairman. He was the catalyst on the management side in the 1980-81 negotiations in getting us portability of seniority. Buz Larkin asked during a session, "How much trouble to do this, Don?" "Me and Jake can do it with no problem." was his response and it was a done deal. -Jake Lamkins (5/6/15) I got to know Don very well when Jack was MEC. In fact he tended bar at our oldest daughters wedding reception. A very nice man and strong in his beliefs -Linda Casey Hamala (5/7/15) After his heart attack, Don worked for a bus company in Roswell, NM that made special conversion buses for celebrity musicians, resorts and organizations. When he was diagnosed with leukemia, he moved to San Diego near his sister, brother-in-law and mom. I don't know if there was ever a formal obituary written. -Lynda Schudel Lane (5/7/15)
