All are extensively trained in formation flying, discipline and safety. Freedom Flight flies all demonstrations in strict compliance with federal regulations and guidelines. On this page you will find a brief biography of each aviator. Many of the pilots built their own airplanes from a kit supplied by Van's Aircraft, but some purchased their aircraft already built. The Van's line of all-metal kit-built aircraft have been known for their superior performance and reliability. Over 6,000 of these aircraft are flying today. DICK KARDELL Dick Kardell is a retired Continental Airlines captain with over 30,000 flying hours. Before his retirement he held the position of Director of Flight Operations. Dick is a rare recipient of the coveted Wright Brothers award for over 50 years of commendable service as an aviator.
