DENNY COX 1977 - 1986 PILOT DEN HUSBAND OF DEN RESERVATIONS AGENT CINDY ELLEDGE COX On this day, I am very thankful for good health and the friends I have. I want to send a special hello to my good friend, Dennis Cox, in Denver, who is dealing with some very serious health issues. I love you my friend. I have known those rosy cheeks, easy laugh and wonderful personality since the early "70's". You are one of the all-time good guys and I and the Frontier Airlines Family has you in our thoughts and prayers. To his wife Cindy, my love and best wishes to you for strength as you care for Dennis. -Tom Robertson (11/27/14) Sorry to here that Dennis is ill.He has always been fun to be around even when he snored in our commuter pad in Pittsburgh. Best wishes to Dennis and Cindy. -Jack McLaughlin (11/27/14) Thanks for letting us know. I'll try to make contact. Is he on Facebook? -Denny Finke (11/27/14) Jake, some sad news you should be aware of. I flew with Dennis Cox many times at good ol' Frontier. -Billy Walker (11/24/15) Billy, I got this very sad news from Cindy today. His brother also had it at the same age. -Trey Allen (11/24/15) I am so sorry to tell you, but Dennis is now in a memory care facility............Mountain Vista, he now requires 24/7 care..........this is a horrible disease......robs you of so much. -Cindy Cox This surely is sad news. Dennis was such a favorite to anyone lucky enough to have known him. I'm unashamed to say that this brought tears. Dennis was special to me! During our hard-fought effort to try to save our beloved airline I came under personal attack. Some of the acrimony was likely deserved and I understood why some were not pleased with my, less than successful, efforts. But, those that were unfair attacks, were based on falsehoods. Dennis, God Bless him, counter attacked and came to my defense. I will always be grateful to him for, not only standing in my corner, but counter-attacking in my behalf. I will drop Cindy a note. Again, thank you for letting me know Trey! -Billy Walker (11/24/15) Sorry to hear this, Billy! I checked Cindy's Facebook page but there was no info there. As a very dignified elderly lady friend of mine recently said, "It's just one damned thing after another!" -Jake Lamkins (11/24/15) Greetings Cindy! I'd like to see an obituary page to honor Dennis on the FLamily website: www.oldfrontierairlines.com Scroll down to the Frontier Airlines Memorial Webpages. If you are amenable, please send me some photos you'd like to see on Dennis' website. His DOB and the date he had Gone West. Tom Robertson noticed his page was absent. I know Jake will want to to put Dennis' page on the site. Cheryl and I are in Fort Smith at the FAL FLamily reunion. Lotsa stories and, of course, many great Dennis stories. He is missed and always will be in our hearts. Best to you Cindy! -Billy Walker (8/27/17) The Good news is that Dennis is still with us, however, still under hospice and not doing so well, from first being put on hospice in April, when the doctor believed he was near death (unresponsive, very low heart rate, not eating or drinking......coma like) to a semi recovery....... it is day to day pretty much and has been for it seems like forever,................................I appreciate your thoughts and will gather pics etc, he was not photographed much at Frontier, and he did not do an official portrait, have air force pics.............etc..............................Thank you. -Cindy Cox (8/28/17) Oh My Gosh Cindy! I hope you'll forgive my intrusion and accept my apology for assuming the worst. I had heard Dennis had Gone West. In one way I am happy, the other very sad knowing how this form of dementia works. Cheryl's sister suffered from Alzheimers for an entire decade before she entered Heaven's gates. I mentioned before how important Dennis was in my life and how I often recall his stalwartness when things were going so terribly bad for Frontier. I will never forget him. I wish I could tell him that and to think/know he heard me. If that's possible I'd be there in a nano-second! As for you, Cindy, if there is ANYTHING you feel within my abilities, just ask. Again, I'm sorry for the miss-information. Please call me ANYTIME if you need help! -Billy Walker (8/27/17) Captains Jake and Billy I just saw minutes ago a posting on FB by Cindy Cox, of the passing of Dennis Cox. My memory is getting bad when it comes to time reference but he has had Alzheimers for years. Known as Sweet Cheeks, he was one of the good guys. -Tom Robertson (8/2/20) Facebook posting at Cindy Cox webpage: Jo Cox is feeling sad with Cindy Cox and Bill Shieldes. It's with great sadness I say, my real life Hero, my inspiration, the man I call Uncle Dennis has passed away. I know he is better off, and I hope he is at the Texas A&M Kyle Field in the sky. Part of my heart will always be gone. He was my person. Oh Cindy and Family, I am so sorry to hear the news! Dennis, or "Sweet Cheeks" as he was known among the frontier family was a much beloved friend. Always with a smile and a nice word for everyone. Cindy texted me that he will be cremated in his Frontier uniform and will be resting at Ft. Logan. He had a wry sense of humor and a twinkle in his eye, and a very kind heart. He is missed. -Ed Teel (8/3/20) Hi Ed, Thanks for the additional info. Did he go by Dennis or Denny? -Jake Lamkins (8/4/20) He was in our new hire class in 1977 and we all called him Denny. I think Cindy called him Dennis most of the time. -Ed Teel (8/4/20) Ed Teel and I talked and recall Denny used most often...Cindy (his wife) more often called him Dennis. Ed's working on locating some pics. We were all in that same class , along with Russ Gehris, Jim Potter, Dan Perschau, Larry Helm, and Ray Tousey. -Steve Tidler (8/5/20) I am attaching a picture of Denny as a young Air Force Captain and one of him in his FAL uniform in 1986. -Ed Teel (8/5/20) Ed & Steve, Thanks for your help on Denny. Let me know when you see an obituary. -Jake Lamkins (8/5/20) Good Morning Jake, Steve Tidler found Denny's obituary. https://www.horancares.com/obituary/Dennis-Cox -Ed Teel (8/9/20) Thanks for letting me know. He is in my Frontier Memorial Webpage queue. -Jake Lamkins (8/9/20) Some Pictures of Denny Cox July 2007- He had just come in from his last trip at US Air July 2007-Denny with his PHL airport car. He called it the Blue Beauty Hi Jake, These were taken when Denny got back from his last trip and retired from US Air in July of 2007. I went out to Philly to "road trip" with him, mostly via US 30, back to Denver in his old Buick airport car. It was a great time. We were in Ohio when a US Air crew scheduler called his cell and asked if he could fly a trip .It gave us a good laugh. -Ed Teel (8/10/20) Thanks for the great pix. How was Denny still a first officer after all those years of flying? -Jake Lamkins (8/10/20) I don't know why. I believe he was on the A320/321 when he retired. Because he was always a commuter at US Air it may have been his choice for the seniority it gave him. We never talked about it. -Ed Teel (8/10/20) D M Cox Emp# 13253, DEN Address in Auroa, CO Per the Nov 1984 Frontier Employees Roster.
