Jacoby was an Air National Guard pilot and was killed in a plane crash at Hensley Field. He had been a commercial pilot for Central Airlines for one year. - Marilyn Kosanke @ FindAGrave.com added: Oct. 1, 2011 (12/9/13) He is not on the April birthday lists for April 1962 and April 1963 listed in the CN Skywriter newsletter. He is not on the SSDI. Nothing about his death in the Apr-May-Jun-Jul 1963 CN Skywriters. However, I found several news items on web search identifying his as a Central pilot. -Jake Lamkins (12/9/13) Posted at FLacebook and the FL Club: GSW pilot Dan Jacoby's memorial webpage is posted. http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Dan_Jacoby.html I found out about Dan this past week while scanning through the FindAGrave.com website. Do any of the oldtime CN pilots recall him and his crash which killed him seven days shy of his 25th birthday? -Jake Lamkins (12/10/13) Re: Dan Jacoby You asked for Information about Dan Jacoby and his untimely death. I flew that A/C just prior to their leaving for Kansas City. Had just given Capt. Jack Salee ( also Capt. with Braniff Airlines) who was a member of the Texas Air Guard with Dan, Roger myself and a lot of others that where with the Airlines. They had a delay getting their ATC Clearance and setting at the end of the Runway waiting, they were gravity feeding from th fuselage tank which is the only one that will feed with no pumps on. They forgot to Gang Load all the fuel switches taking the runway, had just enough to get Air Borne, flaming out the proceeder is to gang bar witch gives you all pumps and air start Ignition. Had they done this they might have made it. Crashed just out side of the field boundary, sliding across the railroad tracts setting them selves on fire. Dan Ejected but came down In the fire, and Roger had his legs pined and could not get out, burning too death. Not something to remember, but you ask and that Is my recollection. Both being good friends I have never forgot that day or them. Dan was single and a good Pilot, thought well of by all that knew him. Roger was the only Fighter Pilot / Flight Surgeon in the Air Force or Guard at that time. Gave me Flight Physicals a number of times as well as Flying Air Defense Missions together. One other thing I might mention, Roger was Married with a wife and Five young Sons at the time. -Don W. Miracle (1/20/14)
