DAN GOODYEAR 1959 - 198? STATION AGENT, SALES REPRESENTATIVE, SALES MANAGER, MANAGER-TRAVEL AGENCY AUTOMATION FMN DEN RAP LAX TUS A lady I work with said a Dan Goodman died about a week ago and that he used to work for Frontier. Bernie didn't remember him but maybe you do. -Shirley & Bernie Wilmes (6/8/03) I saw your post at the FL Club about Dan Goodman dying. Did you see the post by Ann who thinks it was Dan Goodyear? Was the person you heard about perhaps named Goodyear instead of Goodman? Thanks for the post, -Jake Lamkins (6/12/03) Posted at FL Club: Re Dan Goodman - Saw a reference to the above in an email re Accounting deaths. Suspected it might be Dan Goodyear who once worked in sales and other areas. Found the following on the Denver Post website. Not sure of the exact dates he was at FL - early 60's for sure and left sometime in the 70's I believe. Daniel E. Goodyear Father of Scott (Kristin), Susan (Mike) Ritschard; grandfather to Tim, Nick and Sydney Ritschard, Dalaney, Grayson and Darby Goodyear; brother of Tom (Nancy) Goodyear; and good friend Donna Schuyler. Memorial service, 2 p.m. Friday, Fairmount Mortuary Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Daniel E. Goodyear Memorial Fund at any First Bank location. Published in the Denver Newspaper Agency from 6/8/2003 - 6/9/2003. -Ann Yanulavich (6/11/03) Posted at FL Club: Re Dan Goodyear - Thanks for the detective work. I was with CN at the time and FL was giving all Stapleton airline employees free rides on the 580 to show their performance attributes. He and I were pretty good friends and he told me and he would stand in the aisle between the cabin and the cockpit and describe to the non revs what kind of maneuvers the pilots were going to do to show off the aircraft. The day I rode we took off on 8R and landed on 17R. Normally they made a complete 360. -Jim Lane (6/12/03) I remember Danny Goodyear. He worked as an agent in Den, then moved on to other areas, and at one time worked for the Jefferson County Sheriff's department, I was told. Les and I met him in a steak house off the Boulder Turnpike...(US36) sometime back in the late 70's or early 60's... not really certain what he was doing at that time. I do remember that he was supposed to have worked at Jeffco, and for several years I used to see teletype messages from a female with the last name of Goodyear, but I never checked to see if she was related to or married to Danny. Did I read right, did he just pass away this month? -Mary Beth Simpson (6/12/03) Posted at the FL Club: It appears Dan has died if he is the same as Daniel E. Goodyear. There is a Daniel Goodyear listed at Switchboard.com as living on Mississippi Ave. in DEN. Another listing at US Search shows him being 63. There is a memorial service tomorrow: "GOODYEAR, DANIEL E. Memorial service, 2 p.m. Friday, Fairmount Mortuary Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Daniel E. Goodyear Memorial Fund at any First Bank location. -Denver Newspaper Agency (6/11/2003)" I'm hoping somebody can verify whether this is Dan from FL. If so, post it. -Jake Lamkins (6/12/03) Dan was always upbeat and had a great sense of humor. His youthful appearance was a slight detriment in the early years of his career at FL but the envy of his colleagues as we all grew older. As I recall, when he was promoted to RAP City Sales Manager, Hoadley Dean, then a member of the FL Board of Directors, called and asked why such a young kid (I think Dan was in his late 20's by then) had been assigned to such an important city. Hoadley later became a big fan of Dan's. He was very bright, a lot of fun and a very good salesman. Sorry to hear that another FLamily member and good friend has flown west. -Don Grover (6/13/03) I went to Dan's Memorial Service this afternoon. His son, Scott, facilitated the service and did an excellent job. While it was sad, there were so many funny stories to tell that we had to keep giggling. I will try to get specific details from his family regarding Dan's career in "Travel and Tourism." He received many awards and served the travel industry, as well as Colorado with pride. He will be missed. -Jackie Riddle Power (6/13/03) This is the Dan Goodyear who worked at FL.. It appears he died on the 27th of May but was not found until June 4th. Liver problems...the funeral was today but unfortunately I just found out this morning. I will get more info from Julie who knew Barb, his ex-wife. -Carolyn Boller (6/13/03) Dan was Manager of Travel Agency Automation. He and his team of two automated 80+ travel agencies across our system in one year. This was then used in negotiations with UA and AA to gain a favorable display in their numerous automated agencies. We went with AA/Sabre. AA gave us a favorable competitive display position in Sabre. This showed our flights before our competitors in agencies automated with the Sabre Reservations System. Dan did a magnificent job at this. He was a friend who was always willing to help. -Dick Rohrmann (6/13/03) DANIEL E. GOODYEAR Born March 9, 1940 Died June 8, 2003 Dan hired on with FL February 7, 1959 as a Station Agent - First assignment - Farmington FMN, I believe then became a member of the Denver Station by 1960. He then was our Sales Rep in RAP approx 1965, followed later as our Off line Sales Rep in LAX, then transferring to TUSSA and then back to the Denver FL Sales Group. Dan's Dad and brother Tom were Airline folks, both with UAL. We enjoyed visiting and dining with Dan and his family over the years. He left FL, though, and we are unable to relate his recent activities. Perhaps, others will provide this info. Dan is the Father of Scott and Susan Ritschard, Grandfather to Tim, Nick, Sydney, Dalaney, Grayson and Darby. A memorial for Dan was held at Fairmount Mortuary Chapel; may the Lord's Blessings be with Dan and his Family. -Cal Reese (6/30/03) D. E.
