CONNIE CAPPS 1967 - 1986 FLIGHT ATTENDANT DEN My condolences and sympathy to Scott Keller's family. I worked with him at Frontier Airlines and gave him a few headaches as flight attendant safety chair. He always knew when I was right! See you in heaven's hangar, Scott. -Connie Capps (Centennial, CO ) (12/27/05) What have I been doing since 1986? Well briefly...After Frontier I went to work in the traumatic stress/victim assistance area (I'm a Certified Traumatic Stress Specialist & worked both the Continental #1713 crash at DEN & United #232), but kept one foot in the aviation industry until Sept. 11th. I worked for an aviation training company helping new airlines get started (Western Pacific & new Frontier), teaching Crew Resource Management on a contract basis and then doing interview preps for pilots applying at United. Went to United as flight attendant supervisor & then to instructing pilots/flight attendant emergency procedures until Sept 22, 2001. I was laid off, but went to work immediately for Crisis Management International in New York until Dec 22, 2001. I'm now working for the Colorado Organization for Victim Assistance as a Victim Advocate. This is very kind of you to keep the Family in touch with each other and I appreciate it very much. -Connie Capps (12/28/05) C CAPPS Flight attendant seniority date of 7/08/67, emp# 03321 per the FL/AFA seniority list dated 2/1/86. -Jake Lamkins (12/28/05) You should work for the FBI...... You have the goods on at least 600 of us. Do many former flight attendants belong to this group (FL Club)? I still have contact with many former Frontier folks & encourage them to sign up & catch up. She was a real Sweetheart. I always enjoyed flying with her. I flew some trips with Connie as well -Lana Kelley (5/1/12) Connie had lots of medical problems, one was Fibromyalgia. Maggie Harmon kept in touch with her, we will see Maggie on Thursday. Hope to have more info for you. I can't find a photo of her. Have to go to file of reunion photos, which are in shoe boxes, not computer. She was really a great flight attendant and a lot of fun. -Bonnie Dahl (5/1/12) Connie's laugh, high energy & big brown eyes will forever be engrained in my memory. I never had an opportunity to fly with Connie ( I was too junior), but I worked with her in other capacities. I first recall meeting Connie in Recurrent Training. I was lucky enough to later work with her through the Flight Attendant Peer Assistant Program. Connie spent endless hours assisting other FA's in their life challenges, which changed many of their lives for the better. She loved Frontier as we all did and loved the people. She continued to help others long after Frontier ceased operations. She assisted with the traumatized victims in airline disasters, earthquake disasters, car accidents, back robberies, etc. She was a caretaker in the truest sense. Connie was also part of the startup team at the New Frontier, developing the training program for the Flight Attendants. It's very difficult to capture the significance of someone's life in such a small space. She touched a LOT of lives and I had plenty of belly laughs, giggles and many tears with Connie. Rest in peace dear Soul. -Janice Dove Brown (5/2/12) I worked a trip with Connie in the early 1980s before all of our aircraft had overhead bins. We had preboarded a young, wheelchair bound gentleman in the back and then the others boarded. A man, obviously having a bad day, was sitting near this young man and was told by Connie that his carry-on couldn't go in the overhead rack. He then asked Connie "Where do you suggest I put it?" to which she replied "I can think of one place but I don't think it will fit there." Our young preboard just looked at me and grinned while the man with carry-on carried on. When we reached our destination and were waiting for a chair to carry our young man off, he thanked us for the flight and told Connie that "That guy looked liked he'd have a square a**hole." 30+ years later and I still laugh out loud when I tell people this story... RIP Connie...we're still laughing with you! -Debbie Ito Spencer (5/2/12) I just got information that Connie died of heart and lung problems as well as complications with her Lupus. They are planning a memorial service but not until the end of July in Cheyenne during Frontier Days. Her significant other had just finished her obituary and thought he would submit it to the Cheyenne paper tomorrow. I didn't talk to him directly, but got this information from a mutual friend of mine and Connie. That is all I know right now. Hopefully the obituary may have more information. -Lynda Lane (5/2/12) She had suffered for so long and slways had that smile on her face. I usually would be able to talk to her a couple of times a year. I have tried since last years' reunions. Never got a response so I knew she was really bad. I would just leave messages so she knew I loved her. The time, way early last year, when I did speak to her she told me of the wonderful man who was caring for her. I am so grateful to him for helping her. She didn't have much family left. It isn't fair, what a wonderful gal. I am glad she is no longer on those horrible drugs that kept her alive but didn't give her a life. I don't think she was even 65 yet I think her birthday is in Dec. -Pat Williams Harter (5/3/12) I remember Connie well and flew with her a few times. She was a true advocate for flight attendants and she will be mised. -Marcia Glasrud Crump (5/3/12) Posted at FLacebook and the FL Club: Flight attendant Connie Capps' obituary is posted at http://www.wyomingnews.com/articles/2012/05/04/obituaries/03obit_05-04-12.txt -Jake Lamkins (5/4/12) Connie was special and won't be far from Cheryl's and my thoughts. I won't forget her smile, she was never without it when we flew together. -Billy Walker (5/4/12) Connie was a very special lady. She will be missed. -Martie Palser (5/4/12) RIP Connie. What a lovely gal. -Sharon Trumble (5/4/12) Here's a pic of Cathy Columbi Vincent and Connie Capps at a party at Diane Hall’s clubhouse June, 2006 - 3 mos after Diane’s death. This is the only photo I could find at this time of Connie Capps. She was such a neat lady, cute and lots of fun. I loved flying with her and am so saddened by her death. -Bonnie Dahl (5/5/12) Posted at FLacebook and the FL Club: Flight attendant Connie Capps' memorial webpage is posted. http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Connie_Capps.html -Jake Lamkins (5/7/12) Sorry to hear about Connie.
