Following are my recollections but I cannot guarantee that they are "facts" - I could be way off: I think that Claude was the equivalent of Manager of Inventory Control for Central although I think that Central's job titles were quite different from FAL. He did NOT relocate to Denver. I don't think any Central inventory control people relocated to FAL Inventory Control. I recall that we moved the Central aircraft to Denver (DC3s and Convair Darts - anything else ????). The Darts were mothballed somewhat quickly and sat on the apron outside the hangar on Smith Road, looking kind of sad and forlorn. They sat for a long time I think and then were eventually sold off. I have a vague recollection of being part of a team that went to Central at DFW to decide how to transport the inventory to Denver and later merge those inventories within the Denver Stores Department. I think there was some commonality between Dart parts and 580 parts - but probably not extensive. I guess I remember meeting and probably working with Claude.... his face looks familiar....but I don't recall any close association. As I recall, a lot of Central people did not want to leave the Dallas Fort Worth area. Maybe some jobs became redundant (other than mechanics for awhile). Maybe they got buy-out packages. If I think of anything else I will let you know. -Darren Weeks (12/27/10) Pretty sure Claude did not go with FL after the merger. Don't think any of the inventory control people were offered jobs in DEN. I think Claude and some others went to DTW to Univeral Airlines where Lamar Muse went. Claude was the son of the CN mechanic Cecil Covington. -Brady White (12/27/10) If you can talk to Kenneth or Ernest Fuqua they might know. Claude was married to their sister at one time. -Jack Curtis (12/28/10)
