I met him when I was flying for FAL in the early 60's. I've been around for a long time. :) He was a neat gentleman and we had some fun times, and some funny ones in the DC-3 days. That's still my favorite airplane. I flew some on the 340 and that was it. Couldn't be married and fly in those days. I was given the summer issue to read by Ron Butler because it had Charlie's picture in it. I have that same picture in an album. Thanks again for being in touch and I will look forward to the fall issue of the newsletter. -Bev Weed (8/12/03) A long time ago, perhaps around 1948, I remember flying copilot for Captain Charlie Weed in the DC-3. They used to pack the cargo hold just behind the crew with chickens bound for somewhere between RKS and BIL. They smelled a bunch. I remember one day Charlie looked back at the chickens and said, "You used to call me sweetheart. Now all you can say is cheap, cheap, cheap." Reported by FL pilot E.P. We were neighbors in Flower Mound, Texas. We also flew together in the good ole days and played golf. So many memories. -Janet Avakian (10/29/19) Thanks for letting me know, Janet.
