CAROLYN SANDOVAL 1969 - 1986 CHARTER REPRESENTATIVE, CONTRACTS ADMINISTRATOR, MANAGER-PROPERTIES & ACCOUNTS DEN I am Carolyn Sandoval. I began as a Charter Rep. in 1969 and later worked as Mgr. of Properties until my departure in 1986. I am enjoying the memories through the Old FLwebsite and would love to see photos, etc. in Club section. -Carolyn Sandoval (12/19/03) Upon perusing the FAL site, and other areas of the Internet, one death in the family occurred some five years ago that is not on your list of 'flights west',- Carolyn Sandoval. While I cannot seem to pull up the obit, I did pull up various links that have gone to that "404" destination, but enough info is shown within those links to substantiate the fact that another colleague has passed away. I have included what I have just found herein for your further looking into and posting as appropriate on the website. Carolyn met with and was known by nearly every station manager and directors thereto at the time, 1970s thru the early 80s. As for me, my name is Jimmy Betts, and I worked for Dave Burr as a newly-minted facilities guy for the department, and so I worked with many in the company during the times when the new flying 'F' emblem and colored stripes were being introduced back in 1978. -Jimmy Betts (8/16/18) Hi Jimmy, Thanks for letting me know about Carolyn. I didn't know about it and will queue her for a memorial webpage. -Jake Lamkins (8/16/18) Carolyn Sandoval worked for several years at Frontier Airlines, Properties & Facilities Department as a Properties Manager, overseeing the leases and use agreements the company entered into and maintained throughout its route system. She worked for Dave Burr, the Director of Properties & Facilities, along with J. F. 'Pappy' O'Drain, Hugo Elmore, Shirley (department secretary). She was well versed in the legal aspects of the properties business and is remembered for her energy in getting things done always with a pleasant demeanor and her unforgettable smile. She was joy to work with. -Jimmy Betts (8/16/18) Airlines Won't Budge From Its Rent Offer Frontier Airlines isn't going to budge on its rental offer to the Boone County Airport. Mrs. Carolyn Sandoval, contracts administrator, in a letter to Bill Doshier, airport commissioner, dated Aug. 17, stated, "As I indicated to you at our meeting July 31, Frontier is not agreeable to a month to month arrangement at a total cost of $810.00 per month. I feel this would only prolong our reaching a contract settlement. We will continue paying at our present monthly rate of $684.00 per month plus reimbursing the airport 24.38 cents per enplaned passenger for armed guard costs under the F.A.R. 107.4 retroactive to May 12, 1973, and continuing for as long as Frontier is allowed to collect the surcharge set aside for this purpose." She continued, "I do not believe the answer lies in Frontier paying rates higher than those proposed but rather in a reduction of the airport's expenses. While a reduction in expenses can only be determined by the Board, we will be happy to assist in any way possible." Larry Palmer said the airport commission would meet again Sept. 12, giving commissioners time to decide what to do. The commission agreed at an Aug. 9 meeting that the county could not afford to lose the airline. They passed a resolution to take renegotiation of the contract under study and to continue the airline service on a month to month basis at the rental rate offered by Frontier. As Mrs. Sandoval's letter made clear, Frontier will continue on a month to month basis only at the old rental rate of $684, rather than at the new offer of $810. -Harrison Daily Times Newspaper Archives Friday, August 24, 1973 - Page 1 (8/16/18) To perhaps obtain a photo of Carolyn, perhaps try to contact her husband Mac (if he is still with us), or her esteemed colleague, Hugo Elmore, who I believe resides in Spring, or Spring Branch, Texas. He worked with her and knew her well during his years at FAL. As for me, I was at FAL, 8250 Smith Rd from early 1978 thru 1980, when I was hired by Sam Ashmore at TI. Frankly, I have lost touch with so many people, as I now live in SE Asia where I have managed to retire. My memories of FAL, especially during the Feldman years of pre-deregulation, are for me, similar to a look back at an episode of Mayberry (TAGS) when the times were much simpler, slower, and more introspective. -Jimmy Betts (8/16/18) CAROLYN SANDOVAL DENIY, manager-properties & accounts per the Nov 1977 through Jan 1982 Frontier telephone directories. --------------------------------------------------- C SANDOVAL F DOB 6/8/37 DOH 3/13/69 per the Dec 1984 Frontier Pension Records. --------------------------------------------------- C SANDOVAL Emp# 07859, DENIY Address in Denver, CO per the Nov 1984 and Aug 1990 Frontier Rosters. -Jake Lamkins (8/21/18) FLacebook - FL Club FLight West: Carolyn Sandoval DEN manager-properties & accounts Carolyn Sandoval's memorial webpage is posted at http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Carolyn_Sandoval.html Just found out about her 2013 flight west recently.
