CARL HERRING 1952 - 1971 PILOT BIL Died 2/24/82 -FARPA Newsletter, Feb2003 I am looking for information on Carl Herring. If the Carl Herring you have listed on your web site was married to Esther Herring, he was my grandfather. I would like any info you have at all. Thank You, -April Staudinger (4/3/03) Posted at FL Club Carl Herring questions! I have an e-mail from a lady who thinks deceased (Feb82) FL pilot Carl Herring was her grandfather. Does anyone recall if Carl's wife's name was Esther? Any info appreciated. -Jake Lamkins (4/4/03) Carl's wife's name was Esther.. Don't remember the date she passed, but they are interred together in Aurora, CO. -Fuzz Parten (4/7/03) I called Jim Schwartz and he attended the service for Esther. I was gone but he left the following on Voice Message...(he don't use a computer) She was born June 3 1922 in (I couldn't catch the name of town) in Ohio Services were March 15 2002. I will call him later and get it for sure direct. He has gone to FAL Pilotmeeting now.. -Fuzz Parten (4/8/03) Hello April, Here's what I found out since my last message: ....recap of above.... It appears this Carl Herring is your grandfather. Do you have any more info on Carl I can put on his webpage? -Jake Lamkins (4/8/03) Thank you so much for all your information!!! I'm sorry to say that I don't have much info to give you as I never knew my grandparents. My birth mother, Carl and Esther's daughter Sharon put me up for adoption but kept my sister Christine. My birth father's family adopted me. Here is what I can tell you........ Carl and Esther had a daughter, Sharon. She then had my sister Christine and myself. Christine died in a house fire in 1993 or 1994 ( I never got to meet her) while living with Esther. I spoke to Esther twice in late 1995 but lost contact with her again. I thought she had passed away then. Imagine my shock to find out she only passed away last February. To the best of my knowledge, Carl was an only child and Sharon was his only child. I don't believe that she had anymore biological children which would make me and my two sons the last of Carl's blood line. Sharon's last name is Adamo and she lives in Denver. I e-mailed her and asked if she was the daughter of Carl and Esther Herring. She e-mailed me back that she was and who was I? I responded and told her I was her daughter and would like to get to know her and I haven't heard from her since. So.....that's all I can offer as far as info. Sorry I can't be more help. I would love to hear stories from anyone who knew Carl and Esther. Perhaps I can get to know them a little better that way. Please feel free to give my e-mail address to anyone who may have known them. Again, Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -April Staudinger (4/9/03) God, what a small world this is. I live in Houston, TX, and today my man and I went for a ride on a DC-3 in southeast Houston (sightseeing thing.) Took me back to 1958 when I first fell in love with DC-3s and Frontier Airlines in Sidney, Montana. Somehow I got on your website after I got home and started looking up Frontier, etc. You had a picture of Bob Lutkiewicz as a station agent in Denver. Do you know if he ever worked as one in Sidney, Montana, before going to Denver? As he's now deceased, there's no way to find out, but I dated a young man name 'Luke' Lukiewicz around 1960-61. Just wondering.... I'm hooked on your website. Been on it for 10 hrs now. Thanks for a great day! -Carole B. (5/14/11) Hi Carole, I'm delighted you have enjoyed my Frontier website. Bob was a relief agent based in Billings, Montana in 1960 so he would have worked at Sidney, Montana when someone was on vacation and he was sometimes known as Luke. Did you ever work for Frontier? Enjoy your memories and I'm glad to have helped. Best regards, -Jake Lamkins (5/14/11) No, I never worked for Frontier, but knew several of the pilots and stews back then. In fact, I copied all the stuff on your site about Ellie Bastar as she was one of nicest ladies I met back then. Also knew Wayne Aspinall, Carl Herring, Ron Litton, all pilots. Wayne invited me out to his house while I was in Billing one time and he and his wife had a little card party going. They were so nice and generous to a young, stary-eyed girl. It really was a great group of people. I'm so glad you have worked so hard to preserve the 'family.' Thanks for getting back to me. -Carole B. (5/14/11) C R HERRING BIL co-pilot per the Nov 1955 FL Roster. C R HERRING BIL co-pilot DOB 7/1/24 DOH 4/25/52 per the Feb 1960 FL Roster. He is shown on the 1970 seniority list as MED and is not on the 1972 list. I will assume he left in 1971 until info otherwise is received. -Jake Lamkins (6/3/15) FLacebook - FL Club BIL pilot Carl Herring's memorial webpage has been upgraded: http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Carl_Herring.html Still need a photo and obituary for Carl. -Jake Lamkins (6/4/15)
