CARL ADE 1961 - 1986 PILOT GSW DAL DFW DEN Just got word from my brother-in-Law in South Texas that Carl Ade passed away on Thursday from a stroke. He's lived on South Padre Island TX for many years. I don't have any more info but maybe you can find out more. My e-mail program hasn't worked right since we moved to KC so I think you might have better luck. -Frosty Frost (2/23/15) So far, I have not been able to confirm. The Brownsville newspaper has nothing and a google search didn't find an obituary. -Jake Lamkins (2/23/15) DAMN!! That is a shocker! I still picture Coolaid kickin' my butt playing racquet ball. He was tall and lanky and sooooooo slow and deliberate, I figured I wouldn't have trouble 'tall beatin' him. Whoooooeee! Was I wrong! He was amazing! Once I was just a tad more inebriated than Carl. So, he drove my T-bird back from Appleby's up in Parleys's Canyon. How we made it is still a matter of utter amazement. Geez he was such a fine man. He was a superb pilot and fun to be with. We used to kid him that it took him an hour to say "Hello!" Fair wind and following seas ol' friend... -Billy Walker (2/23/15) C A ADE Pilot seniority date of 7/17/61 DOB 12/3/33 per the Sep 1979 FL/ALPA Seniority List. Also shown on the 9/1/85 list but not the 9/1/86 list. The FL/ALPA Roster shows he retired 7/31/86. -Jake Lamkins (2/24/15) Talked to my brother-in-law's neighbor [ex-Ozark pilot] today. He and Carl went to the same church. Carl evidently had a stroke about 2 weeks ago and went to a hospital in Harlingen TX but continued to have problems before he passed on last Thursday, Feb 19th. I checked the Obits in the Harlingen Valley Morning Star but there was nothing there although the neighbor said there was just a 2 line death notice in that paper. No idea when or where a funeral might be held. Carl sure was a fine person. -Frosty Frost (2/25/15) I found his obituary and posted it. -Jake Lamkins (2/25/15) Carl was not only a fine person, but a hell of a good aviator. Carl was a good friend to all he met - and a cut above in all other areas !!! -John Winter (2/25/15) He was a great gentle man and gentleman. -Sharon Bennett Jean (2/26/15) I loved Kool Ade, he was the best, a tall handsome slow talking man, I will miss him. -Bonnie Dahl (2/27/15) FLacebook - FL Club GSW DAL DFW DEN pilot Carl Ade's memorial webpage is posted. http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Carl_Ade.html Still need a photo of Carl. -Jake Lamkins (3/3/15) Greetings From South Padre Island. I'm not sure if you all got notification that Carl died in February. (Just got the Reunion Picnic notice, so probably not.) But I wanted you to know and please pass the word on to others with whom you have contact. Carl had a stroke on 2/1/15. He was in the hospital for 2 weeks in Harlingen and then in a nursing facility in Bowie for 5 days, before suffering another stroke. He died peacefully. We had Memorial services in Bowie, Texas, (we lived there for 10 years) and and a military service at The National Cemetery in Arlington, Texas. We plan to have another service at The Chapel By The Sea here on South Padre Island in February, 2016. Our Frontier memories have stayed with us through the years!! Please tell everyone hello for me. Sincerely, -Bette Ade (6/16/15) I am creating a memorial scrapbook for Carl and the page will be added. I am sending a picture via 'snail mail' (I'm not real computer savvy). I also will enclose a copy of the letter I sent out to friends. You may pick whatever you think might be appropriate. -Bette Ade (6/17/15) FLacebook - FL Club FLight West: Carl Ade DEN pilot Carl Ade's memorial webpage has been updated: http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Carl_Ade.html His wife Bette sent several items including a great photo. -Jake Lamkins (6/23/15) I'm so saddened to read this. Carl and Bette were so sweet to me. Here is a picture of them visiting me in South Padre island when I was competing for Miss Texas USA. My Dad (pilot Sam Scott) said, "To find Carl, look for the tallest man in the room." I think it was taken in 1998. One time, years later, a daughter or daughter-in-law of the Ade's was in the audience in Austin, TX, for a prelim pageant I was in. She wrote me a note and wished me Good Luck because her daughter was in the younger teen or pre-teen competition. Such a nice family. Both my parents are Frontier Alumni. -Gayle Scott (6/23/15) He was a wonderful man- 'KOOL' Ade -Patricia Williams-harter (6/24/15) I flew with Carl Ade a good many times. He was a gentleman and a true professional pilot. We will miss him. -Denny Finke (6/24/15) That is so sad. Carl was a true gentleman at all times and a pleasure to fly with. My heartfelt condolences to his family. -Cynthia Carter (6/24/15) First I have heard of Carl's passing. Condolences to his family. -Kathleen Dionne (6/24/15) Thanks so much. Which was frequent. -Ernie Lingren (2/16/24)
