S. District Judge Louis E. Goodman has refused to step into a fight of directors for control of the Goldfield Consolidated Mines Co. Three directors of the San Francisco - headquartered company had sought a preliminary injunction against four other members of the board. The plaintiffs claimed majority members were maneuvering to gain control of the company and bring about a merger with Gotchell Mine Inc., a Golconda, Nov., property. The plaintiffs said majority members were trying to circumvent a May 29 stockholders meeting at which the present minority would have sufficient strength to gain a majority on the board. Judge Goodman, in denying the petition, said there was no merit in the plaintiffs request for interference hy the court. He conditioned his denial on an agreement by attorneys for the defendants that they would not change without court permission an alternative plan for a stockholders meeting, however. The alternative plan calls for a shareholders meeting May 18 when a decision will be reached on the proposed merger of Gotchell with Goldfield. If the merger is approved, another meeting is to be called Sept. 15 to include the shareholders in both the Getchell companies. But if the merger proposal is defeated, meeting of Goldfield ers is to he held July 17. Goldfield owns R7 American Chrome Co. Mont., and 42 Getchell. The suit was brought by Richard C. Pistell, New York Stockbroker: C. Whitcomb Alden, Asheville. N. C. and Col. Wiliam Howell, Pennington, N.J., stockholders. -https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/37017294/ (11/15/16) FLacebook - FL Club FLight West: C Whitcomb Alden DEN board of directors member C Whitcomb Alden's memorial webpage has been upgraded at http://FAL-1.tripod.com/C_Whitcomb_Alden.html Moved the webpage to a non-ad site and added several items but still need an obituary for him. -Jake Lamkins (11/16/16)
