CK LOGUE 1948 - 1980 PILOT DEN January 25, 1962 Greeley Daily Tribune from Greeley, Colorado Airliner Circles Airport 11/2 Hours Then LandsSafely BISMARCK.N.D. A Frontier Airlines passenger plane carrying eight passengers and three crewmen landed safely Wednesday after circling the Bismarck airport nearly an hour and a half, unable to retract its landing gear. The craft's pilot, Capt. C. K. Logue, Denver, landed the twin- engine DC3 smoothly after deciding to set the plane down when he discovered he couldn't pull his wheels up after taking off. -http://www.newspapers.com/newspage/25005262/ With regrets, the Gone West of; Capt. CK Logue...Tuesday, September 12, 2000. No arrangements known at this time. -Ace Avakian (9/15/00) Thanks for info on CK Logue. Can any of you give me more info for the Obituary page - age, when/where he worked at FL, where he lived, anecdotes, obituary, etc.? Did he go by CK or another name? -Jake Lamkins (9/16/00) He always went by CK. His real name was Coyle ...something, but if you ever called him that, you'd be his enemy forever! He was sort of a loner but a real great guy. You really had to know him. He was a copilot on B-17's during WWII...enlisted when the war broke out, went through the cadet program. No sooner graduated from cadets when transitioned then assigned to B-17's and overseas. I'll have a story to tell (in the newsletter) when I flew copilot for him. -Ace Avakian (9/16/00) I understand CK had a tumor between the heart and the spine. The medics told him they could operate...it would be a complicated procedure...but it could be done. When told of the chemo and other factors that lower quality of life, etc., he elected to hang on for whatever time he had. He was in a Hospice at the time. His final wishes were to have "...'no funeral, no memorial service, no nothing." Just to be buried where he was and that's that. -Ace Avakian (9/16/00) C K LOGUE Pilot seniority date of 6/15/48 DOB 12/6/20 per the Sep 1970 FL/ALPA Seniority List. He's on the Sep 1972 seniority list but not the Sep 1981. C K LOGUE DEN 737 captain per the Apr 1976 Pilot Domicile List. He is not on the Mar 1977 Domicile List. I will assume he retired in 1976 until I find out otherwise. He established a scholarship at Flathead Valley Community College per http://www.fvcc.edu/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/Scholarship-Brochure.pdf?61d1e1 and https://fvccmercurynews.files.wordpress.com/2008/02/volume-16-issue-8a.pdf He gave an endowment of $750,000 giving $2500 scholarships annually. I'll assume he started with Monarch Airlines since Ace Avakian flew co-pilot for him. -Jake Lamkins (10/9/15) FLacebook - FL Club FLight West: CK Logue DEN pilot CK Logue's memorial webpage has been upgraded: http://FAL-1.tripod.com/CK_Logue.html Still need a photo of CK. -Jake Lamkins (10/12/15)
