BUD WHITFIELD 1958 - 1970 STATION AGENT, STATION MANAGER HYS I was born and raised in Hays, Kansas. My father worked for Frontier at HYS in the late 60s, early 70s. I spent many days as a child running around the airport property, on the Convair 580s, etc. Can you direct me to any pictures, aircraft pictures, memorabilia, etc. specific to Frontier Airlines and HYS. Would love to be a part of the online club! Thank you! -Doug Whitfield (5/25/14) Good hearing from you. I have a folder on your dad, Bud Whitfield, including a Jan 1965 article announcing your arrival which I have attached. Take care, -Jake Lamkins (5/25/14) HENRY L WHITFIELD HYS station manager Station agent seniority date of 6/9/58 per the 1/1/62 CN passenger service seniority list. He is not on the 1/1/74 FL/ALEA Seniority List. He may have left when FL pulled out of HYS. -Jake Lamkins (5/25/14) Thanks for the copy of the article, never knew it existed. I'll look forward to browsing the websites! -Doug Whitfield (5/27/14) Attached are some more articles about your dad. They are all from the Central employee newsletters, Skywriter. Is Bud still alive? Did he leave Frontier when they pulled out of HYS? Put Old Frontier Airlines in the Facebook search for a more active group. -Jake Lamkins (5/28/14) I never knew these newsletter articles existed. Yes, my Dad is still alive and in relatively good health. I'll be talking to him soon about this. I don't know if it was Frontier leaving HYS, or his new job as county civil defense director that caused him to leave. Next time I talk to him I will for sure be taking notes! Thanks again for helping me get started with this club/forum. It'll be fun! -Doug Whitfield (5/29/14) My father, Henry (Bud) Whitfield, passed peacefully at home on Oct 31 in Des Moines, IA. He was the station manager at Hays, KS. I'll send you the obit when it is available. I was just 4-5 years old at the time and do remember quite a bit, but I would love to hear from anyone who knew/worked with him. Especially if there are any photos! -Doug Whitfield (11/5/18) I'm really sorry to hear about Bud's flight west. Our group has more and more of them as we age. I will start gathering info on Bud and build him a memorial webpage on the Frontier website. Email me anything you wish included. I don't have a good photo of him and the obituary would be very helpful. -Jake Lamkins (11/5/18) Thank you, Jake. Dad's obituary is now in the Des Moines Register. -Doug Whitfield (11/7/18) BUD WHITFIELD HYS station manager per the Jan 1970 Frontier telephone directory.
