My sincerest condolences, -Jake Lamkins (8/6/11) OBITUARY Robert C. Ullrich was born April 11, 1930 in Trenton, New Jersey. He lived part time with two very dear aunts and an uncle in Morrisville, PA just across the Delaware River. His mother owned and operated Ullrich Funeral Home in Trenton, which was a very prestigious business, for a woman. Bob graduated from Trenton High in 1948 then graduated in 1951 from Parks College at East St. Louis University, St Louis, MO with a degree in Maintenance Engineering. Bob served in the United States Air Force from 1952 until 1956 where he flew the B-26 aircraft. He flew post war photo reconnaissance in Korea and Indo-China with the 12th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron, and upon returning to the United States, was stationed at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, South Carolina. Bob met his wife to be, Harriette Johns, on Armed Forces Day and there soon after became engaged. They married in 1956 in Sumter and went on a week honeymoon to Florida. Bob's dream was to someday live “out west” and that is where they headed. Some of the places they lived were Tucson, Arizona where Bob began working on his flight instructor rating. He was employed at the municipal airport in Winslow, Arizona and later flew charter flights out of Grants, New Mexico. Later they moved to Riverton, Wyoming where he worked in the gas fields. In 1960 they moved to Denver where Bob worked in a propane business for a friend. In 1962, Bob began employment with Frontier Airlines, which was the beginning of his professional career. He was type rated in many aircraft and soon became captain as well. In 1972, Bob and Harriette moved to Longmont, Colorado where they raised six beautiful children. Bob volunteered in many organizations including 4-H as a woodworking instructor, Cub Scout leader and raised bees for honey. He loved being in the outdoors camping, fishing, hiking, and enjoyed classical music. Bob retired from his prestigious career as a pilot in 1990 and later moved to Loma, Colorado to enjoy retirement. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Messerschmitt Ullrich; father, Leo Manus Ullrich; brother, William Ullrich; sister, Helene Hertzog; and numerous aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife, Harriette Ullrich of Loveland, Colorado; his children, Eugenia Nix (Robert), Carol Wild (Boyd), Robert C. Ullrich, Jr., Thomas Ullrich (Dawn), Jack Ullrich (Tracy), Jill Ullrich; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister, Joanne Emmons of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother, John K. Ullrich and wife Elizabeth of Newark, Delaware. -Allnutt Funeral Home (8/6/11) Here are couple of pictures of Bob... I am not sure of the dates but think they were taken in the 1980s when he was still flying for the airlines. -Harriette Ullrich (8/6/11) Thanks, Jake, for putting Bob's memorial webpage on the Frontier website. It looks good to me without any other changes. I appreciate it very much. I sent the website out to all of our kids and grandkids...they thought it was awesome that you would do something like this and I agree with them. Thanks again. -Harriette Ullrich (8/12/11) Subject: New memorial webpage BOB ULLRICH 1962 - 1986 PILOT DEN http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Bob_Ullrich.html Post your remembrances of Bob. -Jake Lamkins (8/13/11) Terry Thompson Bob Ullrich, one of my favorite Captains to fly with.
