Welcome aboard, -Jake Lamkins (10/26/12) FLacebook after 2/5/13 posting of the Jan 1985 NTSB reports: Jake Lamkins Does anyone recall this incident? Billy Walker I was the MEC then, but have zero memory of the event! Kim McCaleb Austin This makes no sense...was Capt examined in Denver? Was there a non-sched landing in Steamboat Springs before landing in DEN from OAK? I'm asking my father about this and he wants to know was this in Steamboat Springs or Denver? Jake Lamkins It appears from the NTSB paperwork that an unsked landing was made at Steamboat Springs, CO. Jack Frost Jake, I remember the incident but I’m not positive who the crew was. (2/5/13) Bob Fothergill Hi Jake - Do you have Billy Walkers e mail address? Could you send it to me. - thanks - (F/O Frontier Flight from OAK - DEN 1-23-1985) Jake Lamkins Hi Bob, Billy's eddress is BillyWalker@cox.net Can you share any details on the 1/23/85 incident? Regards, (2/8/13) Bob Fothergill Hi Jake - let me talk to Billy Walker first - thanks (2/8/13) Kim McCaleb Austin I'm sitting here with Joe Able and my father and they don't remember this incident. I don't either. This is something that we as pilots and f/a would remember....or at least heard something about. (2/8/13) Billy Walker I had not recalled this incident. I agree that had there been anything to this, we'd have known of it. However, since Jake's Facebook message, I have done some research and discovered that it was apparently a non-event. The airplane, flown by the F/O, did NOT land in Steamboat Springs. The F/O made a normal landing in DEN and the captain taxied the aircraft to the gate. The flight actually arrived ahead of schedule. The captain was not feeling well and left the flight in DEN. The F/O completed the trip with a reserve captain. The NTSB report was not accurate, which happens on occasion. Do you have any info on the Frontier flight from OAK - DEN 1-23-1985 in which Bob had to land the flight because the captain was not feeling well? -Jake Lamkins (7/8/23) Dennis Lacy I can't remember who the Captain was. I'll do some research on that. I believe Bob went out on a medical. He was in a bad motorcycle accident and destroyed his leg. He was riding with FAL agent Al Langford. I believe that Al saved his life. Bob had taken medical retirement for high BP and COPD. He's not on the 1985 seniority list. Bob retired in 85, age 43. (7/9/23) FLacebook FLIGHT WEST POSTED BOB FOTHERGILL 1968 - 1985 PILOT GSW DEN http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Bob_Fothergill.html He is the 13th pilot to fly west this year. Post your remembrances of him. -Jake Lamkins (7/12/23) Billy Walker Damn! I spoke with him a year or so ago. We flew many flights t’gether. A fine, fine fellow and a good stick! Most of the fellows I used to swap Frontier stuff with have Gone West! One thing we can count on Jake, we ain’t gonna die young!! I had the pleasure of sharing the flight-deck with Bob many times during our time with good ol' Frontier Airlines. He as such a pleasure to be around. Always that cherubic smile to brighten up the room. Bob was not only a really good fellow, he was truly an excellent pilot. Smooth on the flight controls and alway considerate of the passengers. I know his Flight West was in smooth air, warm/soft tailwinds, and a bright star to steer by. RIP ol' friend! Danny Adair I would see Bob at Serannos coffee shop in Monument Colorado .. He would go to a early morning bible study with some locals……. Been a few months since Ive seen him though…… Thanks for keeping us all in the loop. Tom Robertson Bob was a nice guy and I always enjoyed being around him. Condolences to his family. I am trying to remember any trip I might have flown with him but can't at the moment. It would be very interesting to learn how many pilots are living today from the original Frontier. I miss you all. Dave Kaplan I very sorry to hear about Bob Fothergill. I had no knowledge where is was living since FAL. He was a great guy and always a professional pilot. My condolences to his family and my they be comforted during this difficult time With Sincere Condolences and Respect, Ron Gallop Bob Fothergill was the F/O on the 737 flight with Don Welch when Don had a stroke in flight somewhere near Boise.
