BOB DRAKE 1967 - 1986 PILOT DEN With regret, the passing of Bob Drake...last Sunday...of a massive heart attack...arrangements later. An attempt was made to send this message to all the pilots on my E-mail list however, AOL will not send it because they classify it as, "unsolicited bulk mail" because of the number involved (over 600). I thought I had permission to do this but evidently permission to do so had expired. Please advise all concerned, I'd appreciate it. Regretfully, -Ace Avakian (7/16/02) Thanks for the info on Bob. Anyone with more info on arrangements, etc., please let me know and I will post at the FL online club and website. Thanks, -Jake Lamkins (7/16/02) Geez, It is hitting close to home... Thanks for letting me know. I will pass along the word. -Billy Walker (7/16/02) Posted at FL Online Club July 16th FL pilot Bob Drake died last Sunday (July 14). According to Ace, Bob died of a massive heart attack. No info on arrangements. Anyone with more info, please post it. -Jake Lamkins (7/16/02) I am sorry to hear this. Bob Drake (Mallard) was one of my favorite pilots. We were friends and drinking buddies that lost touch. That is extremely rare for a Maintenance Foreman and a Captain to have that kind of relationship. I got some stories about our times at the watering holes on the ramp and the radio. Good memories - every one of a great guy. As my people say "only the rocks and the mountains are forever". -Don White (7/16/02) Sorry to hear about Capt. Drake. -Barb Ludwig Womack (7/17/02) Please be advised of the following; Capt. Bob Drake passed away this past Saturday, July 13th of a massive heart attack. This information will be posted in the Obituary column of the Sunday Post newspaper, if there are any corrections, etc. Regretfully, -Ace Avakian (7/18/02) Posted at the Frontier Club: Latest info is that Bob Drake died Sat., Jul.13. -Jake Lamkins (7/18/02) Sorry to hear of Bob Drake's death. Bob was a good pilot. Many of our cohorts have "passed over" since Frontier died. Many before 8/24/86. I guess all we have is our memories of an airline that was perfection, that no other current airline employee will ever have. We can cherish these memories, because for most of us that's all we have left. For those more fortunate few who've moved on to other careers, they too will judge what they have now by what we all had before Ryland/Burr/Lorenzo. I'm very happy to have been part of the best. No one can ever take that or my relationship with the greatest airline family in the USA away from me. -Clyde Hart (7/26/02) His wife, Sherry, has recipe in 1979 FL Pilots' Wives Cookbook. -Jake Lamkins (11/26/04) Did you know a Frontier pilot by the name of Bob Drake? I was looking at an update of the Braniff list today & saw that he passed away in 2002. He was hired by Braniff in July of 1967 & his class was furloughed before they graduated. According to the information I have he went to work for Frontier shortly after being furloughed. -Bill Barton (11/24/12) Yes, Bob Drake flew west Jul 13, 2002: http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Bob_Drake.html All the FL pilot obits are at http://FAL-1.tripod.com/ObitsPilots.html -Jake Lamkins (11/24/12) R L DRAKE Pilot seniority date of 11/1/67 per the 9/1/86 FL/ALPA Seniority List. -Jake Lamkins (11/26/12) Posted at FLacebook and the FL Club: DEN pilot Bob Drake's memorial webpage has been updated. http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Bob_Drake.html Seven items added and other improvements made. -Jake Lamkins (11/27/12) My friend and the greatest pilot at Frontier to work and pal with. He had a great deal of respect for maintenance and a sense of humor. The stories I have about him. "Well, Mallard, they taught a monkey how to fly them but couldn't teach one to fix one." "Hate it when you're right." -Don White (11/27/12)
