BILLY MAXWELL 1979 - 1986 RESERVATION AGENT, STATION AGENT DEN LAW MAF I was in Midland July 84 till they shut down August 86. I came out of Denver to get closer to home before the shut down. -Billy Maxwell (5/25/02) I was at MAF from May to Sep 1984. Seems I recall when you came down from DEN. Was Jack Payne there when you were? I just heard from his son. What have you been doing since the bankruptcy? I've been at the FYV post office since '88. -Jake Lamkins (5/25/02) I just joined the group thanks to Jake Lamkins who I ran into online quite by accident. I would love to hear from some of the folks I meet in my years with Frontier. I was DEN RK from 1-2-79 thru about 9-10-79 LAW station from 9-15-79 till about 6-15-81 DEN station from 6-20-81 till about 9-1-83 MAF station from 9-10-83 till bankruptcy Look forward to hearing from some old friends. Sincerely; -Billy Maxwell (5/27/02) I remember Jack. He was the Corvair nut wasn't he. I dont remember a lot of the people who were there. I do remember Delford Caudle. Jack Ballard who was my best friend, I was with him in Denver and in Lawton. There was a couple of others I cant place right off hand. I went with the Delta Air Lines commuter ASA when they expanded in 1986 (November) and worked as an agent in ABI for 6 months and back to MAF as the manager for 11 months and they pulled out. Then I went home to Sweetwater (west of ABI) and commuted to DFW for 4 months as special projects manager, started catering etc....auditing stations and assisting station inspections and the like....after that I went to BPT as manager for 18 months and had lots of employee problems there. I was stupid enough to take manager in MYR (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) what a dumb move. Resort town and it sucked..putting up with golfers and beach goers. I saw an out and took agent job in ABI and moved home and drove back and forth 50 miles oneway. I saw the writing on the wall, much like FL and quit before the closed ABI. I took a sales job for a couple of years (electrical supplies) and then drove a truck over the road a couple of years. I quit that the first of the year and work with my nephew and his wife in a medical staffing and consulting company he started and moved to Sweetwater. My wife quit her job and is in our office too. We staff radiology departments with temporary techs in hospitals and clinics through out the country. Well i have gone on and on enough, stay in touch and I'll join the alumni group too. -Billy Pat Maxwell (5/25/02) Both Del and Jack have died, as I guess you know. Jack Payne lives in Middleton TN and has health problems. You're right about the Corvairs. Others there were Dave Grober who's now back in FSM. I think he left before the Crash. I was there a few months in 1984 - went to DEN in Sep. I was ALEA MEC Chairman just before coming there. I had a grayish beard - it's all gray now (HA!). Another agent was Jim Thomas - he lives near FYV now. -Jake Lamkins (5/29/02) Thanks for the information. I have spent a lot of hours looking thru the group since you invited me to do so, THANKS VERY MUCH!!!! I was up until 4 am the first night I got on just reading postings and looking at pictures of people I thought I had forgotten. I remember you and I remember Joe Barker (Now), I was going to ask his name cause I had forgotten. I miss the airline and the airline business but I guess life goes on. I have been talking to Ray Hall who I worked with in LAW and sent Gale Moss an email the other day too. This is really wonderful. I look forward to the Newsletter and just let me know where to send the check. Talk to you later, please keep in touch! -Billy Maxwell (5/29/02) Joined up a couple three weeks ago and don't remember if I sent any info or not so here goes. Billy Maxwell hire 1-2-79 DEN res, there 9 months, two weeks, four day and 19 minutes (wanted out). Tsfr to LAW Station till reduced out there sometime in mid 1981 then to DEN Station till the hand writing on the wall became clearer and I headed closer to home, MAF Station till the day. Then it was Atlantic Southeast Airlines The Delta Connection in ABI Station for 6 months, MAF Station as Station Manager for 11 months (closed big shock) then special projects manager (made up title DFW). That was terrible, DFW Monday thru Friday and then home to Sweetwater, Texas (40 mi west of Abilene). That went 4 months and then off Beaumont, Texas as Station Manager for a year and a half then a stupid move to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina as Station Manager for a year. Terrible place to live, tsfr to Abilene, Texas station as agent and then got tired of the whole chasing the carrer thing and resigned. Since then this job and that and settled for long haul truck driving living in Sweetwater, Texas. Did that for 8 years till June 2009 when a heart problem caused me to pass out while driving and touring the bushes east of Eastland, Texas on I-20, Not hurt, truck totalled and driving days ended, Wife of 29 1/2 years died suddenly Thanksgiving 2007 and prior to that my son had near fatal car accident Christmas 2006 and is a quadraplagic and has since had his legs amputated due to infections. Massive medical problems all the time, in hospital more than out. After the truck wreck I had, I have gone on Social Security Disability. During my Frontier days from Denver agent till the end, I was best friends with Jack Ballard. We followed each other around with all the reduction in force and station closings and final shutdown. We were all ways together and our wives were best friends too. After the shutdown we lost track and I never saw him again till his funeral, I didn't even know he was sick. All that is said because I ran into his widow and we started talking and hit it off again after 23 years of not seeing each other and last October married. I moved to her home in Lawton, Oklahoma. Guess that is it....boring as it may be. Thanks Jake, glad I found a place to look up old friends.
