WALT DAY 1977 - 1986 PILOT MCI DEN Lori Day (F/A - MCI, wife of Pilot Walt Day, now deceased) 1203 W. 50th St. Kansas City, MO 64112 (H) 816/756-5347 email: ljames@pswlaw.com email: btkldy@kc.rr.com -JoDelle Burwell (10/15/03) To Jo Delle: You mention Lori Day is Walt Day's widow. You've probably seen the obituary pages at the FL websites by now. We don't have anything on Walt. Ace Avakian, editor of the Retired Pilots newsletter doesn't have anything on him either. Do you have anything such as dates, cause of death, age, etc? Would Lori be bothered by my asking for more info? -Jake Lamkins (10/16/03) No, she wouldn't mind at all providing info for the FL website, as well as for the pilot's website. I noticed the "need info" notation by his name earlier and emailed her about it. Please feel free to contact her at: ljames@pswlaw.com (easiest place - her work) OR btkldy@kc.rr.com (home) Walt has been gone for a good while now, having been taken by cancer - "the dance with the devil". -JoDelle Burwell (10/16/03) My husband Walt Day passed on of cancer in January of 1991......he was 45. He is missed dearly by his only child, his son Doug and of course ME! He was such a fun person and always made us laugh. I think that is what he is most remembered for his quick wit and dry sense of humor. Thank you again, -Lori Day (10/19/03) Thanks for the info on Walt. We had nothing - even Ace Avakian has "need info" in the Retired Pilots newsletter. If you'll e-mail me a photo, I'll build Walt a proper page. Take a look at the obituary pages at the index to see what I mean. I'll also inform Ace of the date for his newsletter. -Jake Lamkins (10/19/03) W C DAY Born 26 Sep 1945 Died 15 Jan 1991 Age 45 SSN issued in Missouri -SSDI (10/19/03) Yes, that is Walt.......I will locate an appropriate picture. Thanks again, this has been an exciting week! -Lori Day (10/20/03) Got the message on Lori, her husband flew co-pilot for me in the days gone by out of KC, one heckuva of a nice guy. I don't remember if I ever met her, you said she was a F/A, but I forget a lot anymore. Anyway, her husband Walt and I flew together a bunch when I went back to KC as a captain, we had a great time. He was one helluva of a good pilot, and loaded with personality. He owned a motel and I used to roar at the things he told me about being a "Motel Owner". He called himself a high class over-nite tenant director. I do remember that much, thanks for the up-date. -Skip Pennyweight (12/10/03) Thanks for sharing the photo of Lori. She was terrific to fly with and I recall many trips when she was the stew. I last saw both Lori and Walt having lunch at Hotel de’Coronado in San Diego. I am in disbelief that they are both gone.…the leaves are falling! -Billy Walker (9/1/09) W C DAY Pilot seniority date of 8/30/77 (LOA 8/31/85) on the 9/1/86 FL/ALPA seniority list. Husband of flight attendant Lori Espinoza Day who died 8/29/09, age 58. -Jake Lamkins (9/1/09)
