He joined FL later on and we did get to visit from time to time - long ago. -Cal Reese (1/10/01) My dad passed away in October 1988. Frances is his wife (my mom). She really likes getting the FL newsletter. -Jeanette Albany (2/13/01) We have a website for the Frontier folks who have passed on. I'll add your dad. Do you have some biographical info to add. I can put a photo there too if you can send me one. I can return it after scanning it or, if you have a scanner, e-mail it to me. -Jake Lamkins (2/13/01) This photo was taken at the Albuquerque old terminal in 1965. It shows all ABQ agents except Cliff Brown and includes the crew of this flight. Since it is much better than the one taken from a group photo that was used for his obituary, you might want to use this one instead. -Mac McElhaney (3/13/05) Thank you, Mac. I'll use it as you suggested. Do you have any other info on Walt such as the stations/positions he worked, etc.? When did he start with FL? -Jake Lamkins (3/13/05) I'm not absolutely positive, but I believe Walt was number two ( 2 ) on the agents seniority list just behind Vern Crawley, Senior Agent at PHX. I also believe Walt started with Monarch Airlines, but not sure about that either. Anyway, he was station manager in Gunnison, CO for many years, then transferred to ABQ as a senior agent. Sorry, but I can't remember when he came to ABQ, but it was prior to 1964 because we were still in the old terminal at that time. -Mac McElhaney (3/13/05) W. C. ALBANY GUC Stn Mgr Per the 11/4/55 FL Roster W C ALBANY Station agent seniority date of 1/4/51, emp# 00307 per the 1/1/74 FL/ALEA Seniority List. He is not on the 7/1/84 List. Not sure when he retired - he would have been 65 in 1980. -Jake Lamkins (9/16/11) FLacebook My grandfather Walter Albany worked for Frontier for 31 years. In Gunnison and Albuquerque. I work for Southwest Airlines. He's the reason I followed him into the airline industry. I have all of his Frontier memorabilia. I also worked with a few of his former coworkers. -Adrienne Chavez (9/22/15) Great guy. Lots of great bar-b-ques at Walt's house in ABQ -Barbara Brown (9/22/15) I worked with Walt in ABQ on the ramp, freight, ops and once in a while on the counter - great guy that could do it all. -Ed Huntsman (9/23/15) W C ALBANY M DOB 3/24/15 RET 1/1/82 Per the Dec 1984 Frontier Pension Records. -Jake Lamkins (5/16/19) FLacebook - FL Club FLight West ABQ station agent Walt Albany's memorial webpage has been updated at http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Walt_Albany.html Several items added but still need an obituary for Walt. Post your remembrances of him. -Jake Lamkins (5/18/19) I remember Walt very well - not a lot of patience, but he knew how to do it all. He often had a great, quick and sharp sense of humor. Walt helped make the Frontier crew at ABQ a fun place to work. -Ed Huntsman (5/20/18)
