VICKY MAROSAN TILTON 1948 - 1950 FLIGHT ATTENDANT DEN Photo of Vicky and Mary Lou Jones from 1948 reprinted with permission from the book FRONTIER AIRLINES: A HISTORY OF THE FORMER FRONTIER AIRLINES 1950-1986 by Gregory R. Stearns -Jake Lamkins (1/15/14) I'll show her time at Challenger as 1948 - 1950. She was in the first class of Challenger stewardesses which started service on July 1, 1948. I'm also assuming she was based in DEN since Challenger moved their HQs there earlier in the year. I have found no record of her at Frontier. She was a refugee from nazi Germany and arrived in the U. S. in 1944 when she was 17. -Jake Lamkins (1/16/14) FLacebook and FL Club DEN flight attendant Vicky Marosan Tilton's memorial webpage is posted. http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Vicky_Marosan_Tilton.html She was in the first class of Challenger stewardesses on Jul 1, 1948 and a refugee from a nazi labor camp when she came to the U. S. in 1944 at age 17 years old. -Jake Lamkins (1/16/14) My brother and I were both deeply moved by this lovely Memorial for our mother. I have sent some photos of her final resting place, if you want to include them. My mother left Frontier to marry my father. At the time I think you could not be married and be a stewardess. It was sometime in 1950. My brother and I were both born in Denver, and yes that was her hub. She always talked about her years as a stewardess, and there were some funny stories...she was very proud of her career albeit short. She always laughed at my fear of flying, and said, "you have no idea what is like to fly on a DC-3 in the thermals over the Rockies!". She was fearless.... She kept her white luggage (issued by the Airlines I think) all her life, and her makeup case. She made the newspaper in Denver when she was sponsored by a local couple, the Houston's, who took her in and helped her after the War. She had met them in London, after she was liberated from the camp, and was a displaced person. Let me know if you would like to see them. She was truly a "survivor", and her impact on our lives, and her grand children, and others cannot be forgotten... Oh how I love the photo of her "wings" you posted. Somehow hers got lost over the years. Thank you so much, -Vicky Krogg (1/17/14) A photo of mom with Indian Chief Charlie Red Cloud... in Cheyenne Wyoming and Challenger plane. There is a 2nd newspaper article and photo of the same group plus others where they have her name wrong... but it is her. "Miss Frontier Days".... Charlie Red Cloud, Chief Lone Elk Chief Levi Sitting Hawk and Indian Princess Rosie Blue Water... Later in the early 50's my mom and my brother and I ended up living at the Navajo Reservation in Shiprock New Mexico. We recently went to Shiprock New Mexico (my brother and I) and also to Colorado to put flowers on our little brother's grave who is buried in Cortez, CO. -Vicky Krogg (1/18/14) FLacebook - FL Club DEN Challenger flight attendant Vicky Marosan Tilton's memorial webpage has been updated. http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Vicky_Marosan_Tilton.html Her family sent five more items. -Jake Lamkins (2/26/14) Thank you Jake, it means an awful lot to me. The author, Greg Stearns, is a friend whose parents were a Frontier pilot and stewardess so he knows the subject very well. -Jake Lamkins (3/1/14) Hi Jake: I bought this book at Amazon.com and thank you for the "heads up"!
