I'm trying to get in touch with a few of the Frontier family who knew him best I met a few when I went with Dad to the reunion in 2014. -Tab Berg (8/16/17) FLacebook RE: RON BERG I worked briefly for Frontier in 85-86 in San Diego, but my father, Ron Berg, spent many years in Denver, Omaha, Gallup, Durango, Rockford & Billings. He is currently in hospice care in Riverside, CA, and I'm trying to get in touch with some of those who knew Ron Berg. -Tab Berg (8/22/17) Don't know if I knew him best (lol) ... but worked with him in Denver for quite some time ... it was always a joy .... it's funny cause I was just thinking about him a couple of days ago .... Thoughts & prayers to him, you and your family. -Hal Fahrenbruch (8/22/17) I'm collecting photos, stories, etc. for his birthday... we are hopeful he will make to November, and would love to give him some work memories along with the family... -Tab Berg (8/22/17) I remember working with Ron for a few years in DEN. Good times. At one point we were having a pig roast in JAC and couldn't find a whole hog in Wyoming. Ended up getting in contact with him and he set us up with a pig I think from his fathers farm. We checked it as baggage in a large kennel and flew it on a 580 back to JAC. It worked out really well except for the pig shit in the kennel and the smell that came with it on the 580. -Ron Abfalter (8/22/17) I worked for Ron in DEN in '78 and '79 (I think). He was always fun to work for and I don't remember ever seeing him angry. -Gary Smith (8/22/17) I worked with your dad in Omaha...we shared a few beers from time to time...neat guy. -Dan Price (8/22/17) I worked with Ron in Air Freight with Hal. Ron was wonderful to work for. -Gary Murrell (12/14/17) Today is my father's birthday. He is 78, and spent 77 of those years here on earth. He was my only real hero. Ron Berg was a brilliant man with a MENSA IQ who made the most common person feel special, he taught me that success was lifting people up, not pushing them down. He overcame so many challenges - poverty, injuries, loss... but was always ready with a prank or a bad joke to make things a little better. Dad worked as a farmer, a cop and as a miner - but his real career was with Frontier Airlines - which was as much a family as a business. He rose from a baggage handler to senior management, despite not having a college degree. When corporate raiders bankrupted the company, he could have jumped ship for an easy landing, but he stuck around to protect his employees. That is leadership - and loyalty. He lost his his life savings, his pension - everything except his family and his dignity. At 50 years old he went back to college and got a BS and MBA. His thesis on management is used as a model by many businesses today. He rebuilt his his life on his terms. In my misspent youth, my Dad bailed me out of trouble. As an adult he offered me sound advice. During the worst times, he offered a strong shoulder to lean on. I miss that shoulder right now. My parents missed their 50th wedding anniversary by just a few days... God brought my mother home almost 8 years ago. Dad overcame so many challenges, but he never really recovered from the loss of his beloved Linda... If you are lucky enough to have your parents still around, let them know how much they mean to you. Once they are gone, it leaves a wound that never really heals. Happy birthday Pops. I know that heaven is ringing with calls of "Ronnniiieee" as Mom has you remodeling part of the heavenly garden - or got her hair tangled in another one of your tape traps. -Tab Berg (11/15/18) Thank you, Tab. I remember working on the Durango budget in your living room... you guys had a happy home. I learned a lot from him. He is missed. -Gary Murrell (11/15/18) He was one of my few mentors. Came into my life when I needed someone real and wise and fun. He was all of those and more. I’m glad to see he lives on within you Tab. Thanks for sharing. -John Dahl (11/16/18) FLacebook posting of pic of Ron by his son Rolland Berg Unfortunately dad (Ron Berg) passed in Dec 2017.
