Actually named Phillips Green, Jr. - his dad helped start Wal-Mart with Sam Walton. ALEA Asst. Council Chairman when I was Council Chairman. Jake Lamkins' (8/29/15) I don't know if you knew or not Phil's been battling throat cancer. Is having a real tough time but he is about to the end of his treatment. Glory be! -Susi Green (11/10/15) I'm sorry to hear this. Tell him hello and I'm rootin' for him. -Jake Lamkins (11/10/15) Susi, Hi Susi, how is my friend Pig doing? -Paul Farris (2/2/16) He's doing better but still hasn't gotten all his taste buds back. He did have a pet scan after all his treatments which were a terrible ordeal. Anyway after the pet scan they said he was cancer free and gave him a clean bill of health. -Susi Green (2/3/16) Phil became ill again and at the 2017 FYV-FSM Reunion asked me to have it in FYV the next year. -Jake Lamkins (8/26/17) FYV get-together Jake & Paul: Phil is doubtful that he/we will be able to come after all, as he has surgery scheduled for August 21st. :( -Susi Green (7/24/18) I'm sorry to hear that. Tell him I hope it all goes well and he makes a quick and full recovery. -Jake Lamkins (7/24/18) Susi, how is Phil doing? -Paul Farris (11/7/18) He's having a tough time with radiation therapy on his upper lip now because after his surgery their computer and machine were broken down and he was a week and a half getting started - and cancer doesn't wait, then another time it was out of commission another 3 days but he wanted to stick with this same doctor and clinic which is not part of Mercy. First it was his nose, and now on his lip just under where his nose was. They did it one week for all 7 days trying to make up for lost time. Last Friday I didn't think he'd make it to treatment if he had had to go one more day. After the weekend tho, he had time to recoup a lil and Monday got some stronger pain pills. Now he's doing a lil better. When he comes home, his face is red up to his eyes and the inside of his mouth is raw but He's hangin in there. -Susi Green (11/8/18) DAMN! That is sad news. -Jake Lamkins (11/8/18) Phil Pigpen Green Hi guys. Just a note to let u know Phil has been sick for quite some time. I took him to Little Rock UAMS University of Arkansas Medical Science in to have them look at his lip and face. They did CT Scans and said he had one multiple spots on spine liver lungs. He couldn't have any more radiation because he’s had it twice before so he said he would try to do the chemo if it didn't make him nauseous. The chemo doctor put him in the hospital for Atrial Fibrillation and a bladder infection which his primary doctor did not find when Cody took him the week before. Primary Dr did give him medicine for burning and tests. Anyway in hospital they did surgery on his hip. Cody had taken him the week before to multiple doctor appointments every day and the week before by using the walker and wheelchair. Orthopaedic Dr did MRI and found a large cancerous lesion on his left hip. They were afraid it would fracture so did that surgery at Mercy Hospital where he was already admitted. Also did surgery for the Chet -Susi Green (2/14/19) Hey there. Phil Pigpen Green has been very ill for a long time. Cody and Michelle have been a tremendous help. Cody had been taking him to Dr appts every day for 5 days a week when Phil was able to use walker and wheelchair. I took him to Little Rock UAMS University of Arkansas Medical Science multiple times before that. They tested w Cat Scans and found several spots on liver spine lungs, besides his face. He'd had his nose removed and a prosthesis done in Little Rock before that. They said he couldn't have anymore radiation and Phil said he would do chemo as long as it didn't make him nauseous. The chemo Dr. that Cody took him to gave him an iron infusion and when he went to get the second one he Dr put him in the hospital for Atrial Fibrillation and a bladder infection. From the emergency room he was on 3 more floors with a whole team of doctors testing and working on him. The doctors had found a large cancerous lesion on his hip so they did surgery on that and put a long rod and a pin to stabilize it so it wouldn't fracture and so he cud try physical therapy which he cud not do. He was in hospital 2 1/2 weeks. He had surgery to put in chemo port and feeding tube in hospital. His sisters wanted him to try it and he agreed. He's been thru hell. The Dr asked him about Do Not Resuscitate he told them NO to that. We had already months before signed papers making each other our powers of attorney for health care etc. but he wanted me to make all the decisions and I wanted him to when it came to his healthcare. The hospice people talked to us about hospice but u cannot do feeding tube in hospital hospice. We have long term health insurance but he and I both wanted to go home. We brought him home. He has hospital bed etc. At some point he wanted feeding tube stopped. He does not like catheter so we're not doing that even though there are accidents. At least one of us is always by his side and we have baby monitors etc. Cody brought those and set them up. He can have morphine as often as 1 hour apart. At this point we just want him to be comfortable and not in pain. He's a very sweet patient and has been throughout. He has many friends and has had lots of family and friends visiting, sometimes too many. It's been getting hard to understand him when he trys to talk. Sometimes its just a whisper. Sorry for rambling and sorry if I have repeated myself. So many people want updates on him. It's getting hard to remember who I've updated and who I havent. -Susi Green (2/14/19) Dear Susi, Thank you for updating us about Phil. I am so sorry to hear how bad his health is. I wish there was something I could do. Tell him hello from me and the FYV gang.
