April 21, 2011 I loved my Uncle Paul. For so many years they would visit us, the Whitfords. We had so many good times and laughs, he will be in my memories forever. He was such a great person. ~ Claudia Stewart, Grand Ledge, Michigan April 21, 2011 Paul was my Uncle. Obituaries seem to not even scratch the surface. Paul was always larger than life to me. Even before I met him he seemed that way. When I was very young we visited the home place in Kansas City. Back in the storage building was an old canvas covered canoe and soap box racer built by Paul & his brother. How cool was that for a little boy like me to sit in & dream? Later on all I wanted to do was become an airplane pilot. Paul worked in the Airline industry when it was in it's golden era. He would tell me stories of riding in the cockpit of the DC3's picking up ice flying over the Rocky mountains into Denver with Frontier Airlines. He would tell me about flying in TWA's Boeing 707's, the first real jet airplanes. It was all so fantastic and he was a part of that time in Aviation. When I was about fifteen he wrote me a long letter telling me everything I needed to do to be a pilot. I still have that letter. I did everything he said to do except maybe some of the education. And yes I did go on to be a full time pilot, flying Boeing 727's for over twenty years. I have Paul to thank for that. Paul you will be missed and you and your family are in our prayers. That night after you left us we had terrible thunderstorms all night long. I think maybe that you had met up with Imogene, your sister, and she was there shaking her finger at you just to give you a hard time. Gary & Linda Smith of Rockport, Indiana ~ Gary Smith, Rockport, Indiana April 21, 2011 Paul was the first person I met when I moved into my new neighborhood over five years ago. He and his wife, Pat, have served as a “port in the storm” for me throughout the years when I have had to meet personal challenges. Paul was always cheerful and friendly and even in the past month was helping me daily with a personal situation. He was truly a “neighbor’s” neighbor, the type of man you would chose for a neighbor if you could. Paul was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. The night before he passed away, he shared with me how much joy his grandson Dylan, had brought into his life. The two of them were inseparable. Paul will be sorely missed not just my me but the many others whose lives he touched. His wife, Pat, will need our support during this time of sorrow. But we can also rejoice knowing that today he is in a better place with God at his side. ~ Francie Weber, Louisville, Kentucky April 20, 2011 Sincere sympathy to Pat and Jody and family from Shirley and Jim Batts , Jamestown , Ky. April 20, 2011 Paul will be missed by so many people. We have many wonderful memories of good times spent together in our neighborhood. We were blessed with his friendship and want his wife Pat, and all of his family to know that our thoughts and deepest sympathy are with them. ~ Scott and Lucy Moran, Louisville, Kentucky April 20, 2011 Michael and I were so shocked to hear about Paul; our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this very difficult time. ~ Michael & Jeanne Schwab, Louisville, Kentucky
