PAT TURNER 1959 - 1986 STATION AGENT, SENIOR STATION AGENT MVS ALS STL DEN Pat is in the hospice unit at the Veterans Hospital in Denver. His time is short so this is a very sad Christmas at my house. -Barb Turner (12/24/01) I'm sorry to hear about Pat. Is it cancer? I lost my younger brother last August to bone cancer. You have my utmost sympathy. Would you like to post something at the Club and all his friends could send cards or something? Where all did he work & what positions? -Jake Lamkins (12/25/01) No, I don't think posting anything about Pat would be of any merit. He would not be able to acknowledge receipt of any greetings. It is a malignant brain tumor that is inoperable and has not responded to numerous chemotherapy protocols. He cannot speak nor stand nor swallow and comprehends some but does not retain the thought. I will let you know when he passes and perhaps then information could be posted as well as my forwarding information to Darrell for the obit page. It sure has been a hard Christmas at our house. -Barb Turner (12/25/01) Another member of the Frontier family has left us. It is with a heavy heart that I send this e-mail. Yesterday, Tuesday, 1-1-2002, Pat Turner passed away from a long fight with a brain tumor. The memorial services will be Friday at 10:00 am at St. Pius Tenth Catholic Church at 13670 E 13 Place in Aurora Colorado. There will be a lunch served after the service. -Frank Monheiser (1/2/02) A sad note: Pat Turner, a long-time station agent at the original Frontier Airlines, passed away January 1, 2002. Pat had been in the Denver VA Hospice for the past several month. The cause of his death was cancer. Pat is survived by his spouse, Barbara, who was also a Frontier employee; Barb worked as a TCA. -Jeff Luginbuel, Former Frontier TCA (1/2/02) Hi all old Frontier friends, It is with a heavy heart that I send this e-mail. I hope to see you there. -Dwight Brend (1/2/02) I'm sorry to hear about Pat. Can you tell me where all he worked and positions he held? I'll post the info at the FL Club. -Jake Lamkins (1/3/02) Didn't realize how close the time was. Pat is gone. I was with him and that was quite important to me. If you think the FAL family would like to know, please post some information on the club page. Following is the basic information as prepared for the paper. Pat Turner passed away on January 1, 2002 at the Nursing Home Care Unit at the VA Hospital in Denver, CO. Pat was diagnosed with a brain lymphoma in April. Treatment was intense and difficult. Pat entered the VA inpatient hospice program in November. A memorial mass will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 4, 2002 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 13670 E. 13th Place, Aurora, CO with internment at Fort Logan National Cemetery at a later date. His wife, Barbara, resides at 15972 E. 13th Place, #100A, Aurora, CO 80011 -Barb Turner (1/3/02) I'm really sorry, Barb. Words are so inadequate as times like this. I'll post your note at the FL Club so all Pat's friends will know about it. Hang in there, -Jake Lamkins (1/3/02) I am so sorry to hear of Pat's passing. We had many great times in DEN and the Flair and also when he and Barb invited me to their home to watch football. May he rest in peace. -Charlie Clark (1/3/02) Really saddened of hearing of Pat going west. He was one super guy, and one of my best friends. We worked together in the tower in DEN for many yrs. Maybe some of you sr agents that worked in DEN at that time will remember the 'WakeUp' call that Pat & I used to give you. At exactly 0600 we would turn up the radio (that was tuned into KHOW's morning show with Hal & Charley) really loud and blast the Lone Ranger's theme. I will miss you Pat-have a good flight! -Bill Fleming (1/4/02) I forwarded a copy of Pat's obituary from the McCook, Ne newspaper. The only addition I can make is that his Frontier career started as a station agent in Monte Vista, CO; Alamosa, CO; St. Louis, MO and finally Denver, CO -Barb Turner (1/6/02) I posted it at the FL Club. If you want to and when you feel like it; you may send me a photo of Pat that I can use for making him a webpage. I can return the photo or you could scan one & email it to me. His page would look similar to the others on the FL Obit page (http://FAL-1.tripod.com/ObitsAgents.html). Anything else you want on the page would be okay too. -Jake Lamkins (1/6/02) I also knew Pat Turner...not very well...but just from visits at the Flare, and hearing Les speak of him....I can't even really picture him....but I did know him.... sad how time takes a toll on the old memory. -Mary Pat Simpson (1/9/02) Here is the pix we used at the memorial service. How I miss him. -Barb Turner (1/10/02) Pat was air freight senior agent when I was in Denver......good guy to work for. -Walker Collins (1/23/02) Pat's date of hire was Feb. 7, 1959 with Frontier. He was a senior station agent at DEN. -Ken Schultz (2/1/02) I started out 11/28/72 in CDR with A.G. (George) Smith as manager and the other agent there was Paul Kreitman. Had Beach 99 for starts, then on the the Twin Otter. Great station to learn in but not much for entertainment. Then on to SLC with Duane Phelps as manager and Don Anderton as assistant manager. That was a good all around experience. Good people all. You probably knew John Klonizos who was the union rep there. Also worked there with Paul Ferris, Enoch Sorenson, Gary Pinson, and a bunch of VERY good looking flight attendants. Still keep in contact with Carol Stillman (Pickett). After that it was on to JAC with Fred Elliot as manager and Stan as senior, with Ken Wientjes, Tom Enger, Tom Waserthuer (Sic), Dave Morris and the lovely Liz (Stella Szaboda) Clark. Ended up in DEN with the best people ever. Miss em all everday. On my way out to RNO to see my daughter graduate from Univ of Nev Reno I went through Stapleton just before it shut down. It was the strangest feeling. It was like I was finally home again. Still miss that ole airport. I think that's why Bill Fleming's death hit so hard. He was the spirit and embodyment of that place. Working the tower with him, JD, and Pat Turner was the real deal. Finished my career in DTW. -Ron Abfalter (7/14/06) TURNER, PAT A Born 28 Jul 1936 Died 01 Jan 2002 Age 65 80011 At Aurora, Adams, CO) SSN issued in Colorado -SSDI (8/14/10)
