'Liz' Enright was born in New Jersey under the maiden name of Elizabeth Elfler in 1930 and passed away peacefully on May 31, 2003 at the age of 72 in Denver Co. Liz Elfler started her FL career in 1951 in the purchasing dept. under Director Barney Foster. She met Jim Montgomery during that time and remembered him as a good friend. We were all in our start-up period then, after the 3 airline merger and, as FL headquarters office space was minimal, Liz and the purchasing dept was housed in a nice 'office type trailer' located near the NE corner of Hanger #5. I first met Liz in that office the spring of 1951, coming over from the newly formed 'fishbowl like' station facility (ticket counter, system reservations, office etc. in the little old Denver main terminal. We were in need of station supplies, office machines, etc. and this vibrant happy, gracious, well mannered young lady helped me in every way she could to gain or order my list of items, followed by a lifetime friendship. Liz became friends of many of us and enjoyed immensely her years with FL. In August 1952 , Elizabeth and Donald Enright were married and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last August 2002. They were blessed with two daughters Dianne and Stephanie and Liz took a few years leave from FL to be at home. She returned to FL as a buyer for many years and came over to our offices in the Denver Terminal as a Senior Clerk, helping perform our varied services in many ways in a quite efficient manner until August 24, 1986. From beginning to ending, we in FL went through many exciting times, developing a true business family. Don and Liz enjoyed a truly delightful marriage and their family togetherness was always no. 1 with Liz. They were students of the Arts, Good Music, and the Airlines and always enjoyed an intelligent, interesting discourse in any of these exciting topics. Don and Family released 50 White Doves from Mount Lindo Memorial Park on June 19, 2003 (the mountain that displays the 'Lighted Cross' on Christmas). 1 Dove to commemorate each year of marriage. Elizabeth was always helpful and considerate of others and we count Don and Liz as our very special friends, extending way beyond our active FL years. We will miss talking and visiting with her on a frequent basis and are consoled by her presence with the Lord. -Cal Reese (6/30/03) FAMILY LETTER Dear Family and Friends, We are taking on the sad task of informing you that our beloved mother Elizabeth L. Enright passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 31st following a very long battle with emphysema. She was 72 years old. Our mother was a wonderful, loving parent. She was a caregiver and nurturer with her friends and family. Like her mother before her, she had a keen sense of humor and a love of laughter. Since diagnosed with emphysema in 1992, she proved to be a very tough cookie and taught us all a lesson in grit and determination. She nearly passed away several years ago, but to the surprise of her doctors she rallied and went on to enjoy watching her grandsons grow and flourish. She was also able to celebrate her 50th wedding anniversary with our father last August. For over eleven years she received wonderful care from our father and we are grateful to have witnessed his gentleness and compassion. During this past year it was clear that she was ready and anxious to seek some relief and we are all thankful that she is finally at peace. A memorial service is planned for the family at Mount Lindo Memorial Park on the 19th of June. Donations may be made in her memory to the American Lung Association, 1600 Race St., Denver, CO. 80206 or to the Eastern Star 2445 S. Quebec St., Denver, CO., 80231. In loving memory, Stephanie Stroud -Sent by Cal Reese (6/30/03) When I was scanning one of the FL sites I ran into the obituary (5/31/03) for Liz Enright of the Purchasing Department. I was touched by the warm comments from former associates and from her daughters. I worked with Liz when I was in Inventory Control. We were then housed in Hangar 5 with the Purchasing Department in a trailer parked just out the door. These were our temporary digs until we moved into the new FL facility in 1968. When we moved over to the new facility Liz's shared office was about 3 doors from mine. The thoughts already expressed on her FL obituary page are very true and representative of Liz. She was a warm and caring person and always available if someone dropped in to chat or pursue a purchasing issue. She and I both hailed from New Jersey in earlier years so we shared that in common. I remember her as very upbeat with a great sense of humor and not one to be bogged down in petty conflicts or politics. She always had an interest in the 'person' at hand, in addition to her purchasing roles. I can understand why her daughters expressed such pride in their mother and the wonderful qualities that she shared with those around her. -Darren Weeks (6/1/04) LIZ L ENRIGHT DEN BUYER - PURCHASING Died May 31, 2003 in DEN, age 72, DOB Oct 19, 1930 DOH Sep 15, 1960. per Ken Schultz database. ----------------------------- She is not on the Nov 1955 or Feb 1960 FL Rosters. ----------------------------- E L ENRIGHT Clerk seniority date of 8/9/72, emp# 02403, per the 1/1/86 FL/ALEA Seniority List. -Jake Lamkins (9/10/12) Posted at FLacebook and the FL Club: DEN senior clerk Liz Enright's memorial webpage has been upgraded. http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Liz_Enright.html Added six items to her page.
