LINDA LAM 1963 - 1964 FLIGHT ATTENDANT BIL Donors for Shari Steadman's expenses Thought you might like to put a list in the next newsletter of the wonderful FLamily members who sent donations to the Sharon Steadman Nicholas fund. As of today (Sept. 6) we have donations of $485. I sent $250 to the Beresford, SD funeral home for the cemetery permit and earth removal for the burial, and $100 to the Utah funeral home to help with expenses for her service at the VA Hospital. There is a monument next to Sharon's parents' graves with Sharon's name and birthdate on it. The funeral home I called handled her parents funerals and they had bought a stone for her. There were no arrangements made for burial or funeral but it does prove that she did plan to be buried at "home" in Beresford. The $135 left in the fund will go toward engraving her date of death on her monument. I am so humbled and grateful to the following people who made donations and sent me wonderful notes of condolence: Jake Lamkins, Robert Franklin, Kerry Allen, Roger Borchard, Bev Cummisky, Roger Wallace, Linda Casey Hamala, Ann & Gene McCaleb, Loren Holmgren, Charles Trantham, Leslie Taylor, Richard Rohrmann, Curt Sauber & Linda Lam. Amounts were anywhere from $10 to $100 and there were wonderful notes and emails but one in particular touched me deeply. I will not name the person who wrote this note but wanted to share some of the words with the FLamily: ".......I believe that all Frontier is a family! I was very touched by your note to Jake Lamkins. I am on unemployment but would like to donate to your cause! Will also keep her husband in my prayers........." I am continually uplifted by the generosity and caring spirit of our Frontier family and will remember each and everyone of you in my prayers. -Dee Curl Martenson (9/6/09) Miss Linda Louise Lam, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James G. Lam of 1615 Ave. F, and Harvey K. Markegard, son of Keith Markegard, 3048 Poly Drive, were married Jan 11. in First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. John J. Wells Jr. officiated the double-ring ceremony. Shelley Rae Lam, niece of the bride, and Al Markegard, brother of the bridegroom, were flower girl and ring bearer. Dennis Neibauer was best man. Ushers were Robert Cooley, Edwin Burris and Harry Burniston. Assisting at the church reception were Mrs. Robert Popp, sister of the bridegroom; Mrs. Ron Reid and Miss Jennie Markegard. Mrs. James G. Lam Jr. was in charge of the guest book. The bride, a former airline stewardess, was graduated from Billings Senior High School. The bride wore a floor-length gown of imported silk over taffeta with designs of beads and crystals and fashioned with a chapel train. Her fingertip veil floated from a crown of seed pearls. She carried red roses. Mrs. Jim Beck was matron of honor for her sister. Bridesmaids were Miss Karen Turner, in their Lockwood home. About 200 friends and relatives attended the event. -The Billings Gazette from Billings, Montana, January 19, 1964 (1/3/19) She is not on the Nov 1961 flight attendant seniority list. Nor is she on the Aug 1963 sales & service roster. L LAM BIL flight attendant per the Sep 1963 & Jan 1964 sales & service rosters. She is not on the Feb 1964 roster so she quit when she married Jan 11, 1964. DOH would have been about Aug/Sep 1963. -Jake Lamkins (1/3/19) FLacebook - FL Club FLight West: Linda Lam BIL flight attendant Linda Lam's memorial webpage has been posted at http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Linda_Lam.html She worked at Frontier less than a year but still contributed to the burial fund for flight attendant Shari Steadman back in 2009. Post your remembrances of her. -Jake Lamkins (1/7/19) I am so sorry I did not send you Linda's obituary. Glad you got it. I was stunned at her passing. She was a beautiful, classy woman and her last few years were so sad as she had Alzheimer's. I worked with her husband Curt Sauber at St. Pius Church and the two of them did a lot of landscaping projects on the campus. They took in retired racing Greyhounds and traveled a lot to events with other Greyhound owners. You are right, Linda, like me, had a less than a year flying career with Frontier, due to marriage! Remember, we flew back when a stew could not marry. Dumb! Airlines wasted a lot of money training then losing us to love. -Dee Curl Martenson (1/7/19)
