LINDA HARRIS 1963 - 1984? COMMUNICATIONS OPERATOR, RESERVATIONS AGENT, STATION AGENT GSW DAL DFW DEN I accepted a DFW ramp position in 1976, not too long after Linda Harris did, which was when they began allowing females to do this job. Then I was injured and had to go back to Res. But instead of going back to Kansas City, I went to Denver in early 1977. Linda Harris might know about Jim Haley, if you know how to contact Linda Harris. Well, lots of info, but wish I knew more. -Linda Pitts (Cherry) (12/4/04) The Aug 1963 article is the same Linda Harris. Linda was a res agent who became one of the first female station agents. She worke4d the ramp at DFW. Later she returned to res. L A HARRIS Group C seniority date of 4/24/67, emp # 03478, per 1/1/74 FL/ALEA seniority list. Did she leave FL before the shutdown? Or transfer out of res? I can't find her on my 1984 or 1986 seniority lists. -Jake Lamkins (1/7/11) Wow--I have lost track of LInda over the years-- I don't think she transferred out but I don't remember when she may have left-- I think it was before we closed. I will look at some stuff I have... thanks for letting me know. -Carolyn Boller (1/7/11) Posted at the FL Club: Subject: Res/station agent Linda Harris memorial webpage exfal LINDA HARRIS 1963 - 198? COMMUNICATIONS OPERATOR, RESERVATION AGENT, STATION AGENT GSW DAL DFW DEN http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Linda_Harris.html Hard to believe but Linda was FL's first female station agent - at DFW in 1975. She transferred from reservations - this is 2 years after Emily Howell became the first FL female pilot and Bob Ashby became the first FL black pilot (same day - 1/29/73 - Bob had seniority due to age tie-breaker). There was some resistance to Linda. But she was a trooper! The story is told of the DFW station agents coming back from loading an outbound flight that summer. One agent exclaimed, "I'm sweating my ass off!" And Linda responded, "Yeah, and I'm sweating my tits off!" Linda was a pioneer in her own right. -Jake Lamkins (1/12/11) Posted at FLacebook and the FL Club: DFW DEN reservations/station agent Linda Harris' memorial webpage has been updated. http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Linda_Harris.html Four items added. -Jake Lamkins (10/6/12) Posted at FLacebook and the FL Club: DFW DEN reservations/station agent Linda Harris' memorial webpage has been updated. http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Linda_Harris.html Several items added. -Jake Lamkins (10/16/13)
