JOYCE DARBY SCHMID 1958 - 1986 FLIGHT ATTENDANT PHX DEN Regretfully to inform you of the passing of Joyce Darby (Schmid), Friday, 10/10/03. No other info at this time. Joyce was one of the old-time 'stewardesses' of FL. She came 'on board' when FL was awarded the "Seven States Case"... the routes to Omaha, etc., through Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, etc. She was quite popular with most all the stews and pilots. When she was stationed at PHX, she would come up to pilots' right after take-off and with a cold, wet paper towel, rush up and wipe the sweat off the brow of the pilots. Real refreshing but startling! A real good trooper! I personally had the pleasure of having her on board when I was flying Captain on the DC-3, CV340, CV580, B727, B737, MD80 spanning close to thirty years of my thirty eight years with FL. Important name in DEN, his family owned about 30 appliance stores, sold out in the 1980's. He knew most all of the DEN flight crews as he hung around all of us. He dated a number of the old stewardesses. He had a Doctorate degree from DU. He was an ex air Force pilot. We used to go to lunch every Thursday with Harvey last 12 years till his health started failing. 88 yrs old. Joyce died in 2003. -Bonnie Dahl (7/10/12) Posted at FLacebook and the FL Club: The memorial page for DEN flight attendant Joyce Darby Schmid has been updated. http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Joyce_Darby_Schmid.html Several items added and page improved. -Jake Lamkins (3/21/13) FLacebook - FL Club DEN flight attendant Joyce Darby Schmid's memorial webpage has been updated: http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Joyce_Darby_Schmid.html -Jake Lamkins (5/20/15) Such a great gal.
