JONNIE JONES 1967 - 1986 STATION AGENT, SENIOR STATION AGENT, CUSTOMER SERVICE SUPERVISOR, ASSISTANT STATION MANAGER, STATION MANAGER DEN LNK Forwarded by Cork Guenther: Everything went well, had surgery on the 27 of Dec 06. Surgery was 6 hours, the ICU for a day and then to my room. Released on the 3rd of Jan. They are sure they got all the cancer and could not see any additional cancer in the area, but they had x-rayed me enough to know most of that. Anyhow, home here in Florida and recuperatiing, slow but progressing. Go back in a week for a follow up and than each three months for a year. Thanks for your concern and god bless. -Jonnie Jones (1/17/2007) Thanks for the info, Cork. Was Jonnie an agent in LNK? Is Jonnie a nickname? I have a John Jones in my database who was with CN - is that him? About what was his seniority and where did he work. -Jake Lamkins (1/17/07) Jonnie Jones (spelled Jonnie) was the station manager at LNK after Glenn Emmons transferred. They were the only managers that we had in the 20 years that I was there. I think that Jonnie had about the same seniority as I did. -Cork Guenther (1/17/07) I'm interested in a subscription. I was with Frontier 1966-1986. Started in Denver worked as an agent in customer service ramp, the Senior Agent both customer service and ramp. Asst Manager customer service and ramp. Mananger Operations, then Manager Customer service, all in Denver. Transferred to Lincoln Ne as Manager in 1977. -Jonnie Jones (1/18/07) Hi Jonnie, Great hearing from you. What have you been doing since FL? I may have met you over the years. I was a station agent/SSA 1964-86 and ALEA chairman 1980-84. I ended up at the FYV post office after FL and retired 3 years ago. -Jake Lamkins (1/18/07) I know we have a met a couple times at meeting in Denver. I was a friend of Don Enos for many years. Continental gave me an option of Pierre Dakota or Bismark. I told them I wasn't interested. I could tell they didn't really want me and was going to make it as difficult as possible. Purchased a travel agency in Lincoln Neb. (mistake number 1) sold the travel agency and moved to Akron Ohio and started a business with my brother, still active (semi-retired) and splitting my time between Ohio and Florida. Just finished a cancer operation here in Tampa Fla (Moffit Cancer Center) for esophageal cancer. Quite intrusive operations will be laid up of 2-3 months. They feel they got it all, they should as they took out my esophagous. Ha. Anyhow am doing better and looking forward to another year. Thanks you for your interest in keeping Frontier alive, as it was the highlight of my life, good people like Truman Jeter, Ken Gann, Hank Lund, Royal Burt and many others made it enjoyable. -Jonnie Jones (1/18/07) Here's hoping your recovery is swift and complete. Don's been retired up on Beaver Lake many years - about 40 miles north of here. But he quit coming to the reunions 6 or 7 years ago. He's been fighting prostate cancer maybe 10 years now. I talk to him on the phone occasionally. I worked with Truman Jeter in STL 1968. He was just a supervisor then. I was an SSA. Damn! Life goes by fast, doesn't it? Take care and keep in touch, -Jake Lamkins (1/18/07) After the bankruptcy I bought a travel agency in Lincoln, Ne, just about the time airlines were cutting back on commissions, so it was a money loser from the word go. Next I went to work for JJ Security out of Green Bay setting up security systems in airports plus managing those Already in place. I then left them and started a company in Cleveland Ohio with my brother. Still active in the business but splitting my time between Ohio and Florida. Presently in Florida recovering from a cancer operation. Thanks for the news letter. -Jonnie Jones (1/30/07) FLacebook Looking good, Jonnie! He visited us in Danbury, NE (in Goodland, KS area) in 1993. Contacted him when Pat died in 2002 and then lost track of him. Saddened to learn of his cancers and death. May he rest in peace. -Barbara Turner Reed (5/8/17) Such a handsome man...so sorry for your loss... have many memories of Rod and Jonnie fishing at Taylor Lake... and don't remember them ever catching any fish! -Diane Wright Smith (5/9/17) I'm sorry to hear that Jonnie Jones has flown West. He was a tall handsome guy. I was having a beer in the Flair about 1973, a bar near Stapelton, one night complaining about not being able to get a job interview for my brother John Dahl. He asked me if he had long hair or smoked dope. I said "no"; Jonnie said, "Send him out Saturday morning, I'll put him to work". John went out and Jonnie put him to work - till 1986. Then my brother went with UAL FOR 25 years after 12-14 years with Frontier. I've never forgotten that! -Bonnie Dahl (5/9/17) I owe much of my success in the transportation industry to Jonnie Jones. Taught me how to do budgets, analyze and write proposals, and manpower. Enjoyed working for him in LNK. -Greg Smith (5/9/17) I remember Jonnie alway telling jokes and had a smile on his face. -Gloria Croisant (4/16/19) Facebook on 4/16/22 Kristina Kj Jones Hausman Stayed as busy as I could today… Hard for me to imagine it’s been 5 years and I haven’t been the same since. I took the suggestion from @jillmatlock and remembered the good times. I am pretty sure he is telling us each the same story..completely fabricated of course. Love you daddy! Jake Lamkins Frontier remembers him too! http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Jonnie_Jones.html (4/18/22)
