JON SLUDER 1953 - 1986 STATION AGENT, SENIOR STATION AGENT, ASSISTANT STATION MANAGER, ACTING STATION MANAGER ACF MLC GSW DAL LIT DFW The old CN hanger was located at the south end of the main North/South runway. There was a cliff just a few yards off the hanger's south tarmac/ramp. A DC-3 doing a maintenence run-up had the brakes fail and went nose down in the creek. This building and the CN headquarters building are no longer there. Nothing, as far as I know, of the old GSW airport is any where to be seen or found! Just memories!!! -Jon Sluder (9/19/02) Posted at the FL Club Hearing loss I have suffered hearing loss since about 1957..... It's really a bummer. I wear aids in BOTH ears, and it is costly, as I have not found any one that can offer a place to get aids that doesn't cost an arm or a leg. It's all right out of my pocket, and I need new ones now. Digital aids cost TWO ARMS and TWO LEGS, so maybe when I can save up enough cash I can get a pair. My best to all of my FLamily, I love you all! Cheers, -Jon Sluder 1953 - 1986 (6/28/05) JON D SLUDER (Age: 73) CARROLLTON, TX JOHN D SLUDER -Intelius.com (3/19/07) I have been meaning to pass along some news about a CN/FL alum.(my cousin) Jon Sluder GSW/DAL/DFW Ramp agent. Jon passed away last June 5, 2008 of a brain tumor and was laid to rest along side his parents in Clinton, OK. I had originally let another FL friend know to pass it along but he has also been in the midst of a lot of personal problems too, and it didnt get sent. Our family didnt get much info about Jon as he had turned all of his affairs over to his church and they were not very good at passing along any info about his condition. One of my other cousins finally was able to find out what had happened to him and passed it along to me. I last saw Jon about a year ago at his mothers funeral in Clinton,(Jons hometown) and he didnt seem right then. Sorry to have taken so long to pass this info along, the time just never seemed right to just do it. I am sure that some of his co-workers would like to know what happened. I dont know any more than that. -Phil Leach (1/30/09) Thanks for the info about Jon. I passed the word to the Frontier folks and we will set up a memorial webpage for him at our website. -Jake Lamkins (2/2/09) This is not good news - we are seeing a lot of our friends go WEST. We all go some time but its still hard to believe that so many have gone. Soon it will get crowded but until we meet again. -Bill Kirkley , SA/SSA STL/DAL/DFW (1/30/09) Sorry to hear of Jon's passing. He very generously shared some photos for my site a few years ago. -Steve Gustafson (1/30/09) Was sorry to hear of Jon Sluder's passing. Knew Jon quite well and attended some classes with him. As often is said we are losing our old friends fast. -Ken Stewart (1/31/09) So sad to hear of Jon's passing. Of all the agents across the system, my fondest memories are of the DAL/DFW crew. Jon was a great guy with a wonderful sense of humor, and he always took such good care of us all. Thanks so much to all of our great FL SA/SSA's! -Donna Harrison (1/31/09) J D SLUDER Station agent seniority date of 6/15/53, emp# 07986, #14 on the 1/1/86 FL/ALEA seniority list. -Jake Lamkins (2/9/09) FL Club New memorial webpage JON SLUDER 1953 - 1986 STATION AGENT, SENIOR STATION AGENT, ASSISTANT STATION MANAGER, ACTING STATION MANAGER ACF MLC GSW DAL LIT DFW http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Jon_Sluder.html Post your remembrances of Jon.
