JOHN STULTS 1962 - 1986 STATION AGENT, STATION MANAGER GCK FYV DFW CID Thanks for the info. This is a sad day. John and I were both from Weatherford, Tx. His cousin was married to my aunt. We worked for the same company in Ft.Worth and carpooled together. After I started Airline Training School John decided to join me. We both went to work for CN in Kansas. After LAW and FYV stations closed we worked together again at DFW for a while. Never really keep in touch after that. I'll always regret that. He was a good friend. Thanks again for the info -Ray Hall (7/29/99) In FYV once I saw John walk thru a 580's prop which had nearly stopped & it missed him but knocked the sack of mail out of his hand. I worked with him nearly 20 years and he was always upbeat and positive about life. His pride and joy was his family. What has happened is terrible! -Jake Lamkins (7/29/99) I am in shock, and deeply saddened. I worked with JR in FYV and CID. I will miss him. -Bob Stine (7/29/99) J R STULTS Seniority date of 10/23/62 FL/ALEA seniority list dated 7/1/84. He began with Central Airlines. -Jake Lamkins (11/2/06) Thanks so much for doing this. Daddy would have been pleased. I can hardly believe that it has been 10 years. It seems like yesterday we were all together in Ft. Smith. The whole Frontier gang was family to us all. -Shirley Stults Davis (9/1/09) Hi Shirley, So great hearing from you. It's hard for me to believe it's been 10 years too. July 28 was the date several of us meet each month and we talked about John that day. He's in a lot of funny stories. One was when an irate customer told him he looked like a "washed-up movie star." Naturally, John liked that and just grinned even more. I'm glad you like his webpage. Send anything you would like added. I found some pix from the 1988 Reunion I'll be adding. Tell your mom and sis hello. -Jake Lamkins (9/1/09) Do you remember a big farm boy from Iowa named John and also a really smart guy, whose name I've forgot that later was in in SEA. I met them both at the golf tournaments down in TUS and both are really good guys. -Ernie Van Winkle (1/13/11) Yes, John Stults and Dick James are the two guys! I found out playing poker with Dick, that he was very smart and attentive. -Ernie Van Winkle (1/14/11) John Stults was from Grapevine, TX but spent most of his career as a FYV station agent. He got into management after FYV closed in 1982 and was CID manager at the shutdown. Alas! He was killed tragically in 1999 when he walked into the turning prop of an arriving CO ATR42. He was LITCO manager at the time. See his memorial webpage at the FL website. Dick James was BVO manager for several years, FYV station agent and went to SEA as a station agent when FYV closed. He worked as a SEA bus driver until he retired and still lives there. Worked with both guys many years in FYV and they were characters. -Jake Lamkins (1/14/11) Today while picking up my prescriptions at Wal-Mart the young woman assisting the pharmacist asked me if I knew John Stults. After I answered, "Yes, I worked with him 18 years at the airport!", she responded she was his grand-daughter by his daughter Shirley Ann and had recognized my name on my prescriptions. I was so excited that I gave her a hug and we were just getting a great conversation going when she had to answer the phone and got tied up. She looks a lot like her mother and is about 22 - 25 years old. I didn't get to talk enough with her but it sure made my day! -Jake Lamkins (5/11/18) FLacebook Frontier Memorial Webpage Updated JOHN STULTS 1962 - 1986 STATION AGENT, STATION MANAGER GCK FYV DFW CID http://FAL-1.tripod.com/John_Stults.html Several new items added and webpage updated. John died tragically on the LIT ramp when he walked into a prop. I worked with him for 18 years and he was quite a fellow. He was one of the best agents I ever saw at handling irate passengers. John had a well developed "startle reflex" and I always got his attention when approaching his blind side. Otherwise you risked being smacked as he flailed through being startled. His reservations agent wife Shirley recently flew west He was a good friend the 35 years I knew him. -Jake Lamkins (4/30/21)
