HANK GOFFART 1961 - 1986 STATION AGENT SWO LIT ATL HOU Hank was a station agent at LIT from the 1960s until it closed. After Frontier's demise in '86, he worked for Poe Travel in LIT. -Jake Lamkins (9/5/98) OBITUARY HENRY J. "HANK" GOFFART, 60, of Little Rock died Thursday after a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig's disease. A travel consultant, he was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church. Survivors are his wife of 37 years, Geraldine M. Goffart, and their son, Scott H. Goffart, both of Little Rock. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to John Dodson, Mr. Goffart's caregiver for four years. Arrangements will be announced by Griffin Leggett Healey. -Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (9/5/98) Hank's date of hire was 3-6-61 - the Mar 06/61 group seniority was decided by age. We had three of us with that seniority date in LIT - Bernie Nagle was oldest, my self next and then Hank the youngest. When I was hired Central sent me a letter wanting me to report to LBL 0n Mar 28, 1961. When I acknowledged they advised me it was intended to be 2-28-61. It was somewhat inconvenient for me to get things in order to go that quick. Had known that so many others would be hired 3-06-61 I would have gone to LBL on the 28 FEB 61 some way. HA HA! -Buddy Griffin (2/26/07) Yep, I would have done the same. CN hired dozens with that seniority date because we got a big route award across Kansas that started then. Did Hank go somewhere after LIT or did he take HSF? -Jake Lamkins (2/26/07) I think Hank went to HOU for awhile, then came back to LIT and worked SATO at LRAFB for awhile and then for a travel agency for awhile. But I am not sure of that. Jack Chambers probable would know. -Buddy Griffin (2/26/07) I am sending info and some photos I had taken at an old timer party we had in LIT a few years ago. Bernie Nagle was hired by Central Airlines right out of school. He and Hank Goffart hired the same day and were sent to LIT - I trained them both. Truman Jones, Superintendant of stations, hired a lot of people right out of airline school in MKC in those days. -Jack Chambers (2/28/07) Hank and Bernie Nagle came to work for CN at LIT on 3-6-61. Hank married Gerry Scott in LIT on 6-14-61. They had one son named Scott Goffart - who is now a Capt. with Air Tran in ATL . Hank and Gary Frogge went to ATL when it opened and worked there several months - it was in ATL that Gary Frogge died of a heart attack. Hank never moved to ATL , but flew home on DL every couple weeks and left Gerry and Scott here in LIT. When LIT closed he went to HOU and stayed til the end. After the demise of FL he worked for SATO at LRAFB at LIT, then the MEPS office downtown and finally ended up working for Poe Travel who was awarded to Govt travel contract over SATO. He worked with Poe until he became too ill to work-about 1995 I guess, and passed away on Sept. 3,1998. He died of Lou Gehrig disease. -Jack Chambers (4/4/07) I worked with James Greer when I moved from reservations in DEN to HOU station agent. It was a major transition and he was always so kind and helpful to me. I will always remember James and Hank Goffart laughing and having a good time. -Mary Henderson Hardey (10/17/10) FLacebook - FL Club FLight West: Hank Goffart LIT station agent Hank Goffart's memorial webpage has been updated at http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Hank_Goffart.html About ten items added and his page re-furbished.
