GRANT HOLMES 1964 - 1986 PILOT GSW DAL DFW DEN I would like to join the Frontier Club on Yahoo. Pilot from Central, 1964 to the shut down of Frontier 1986. I retired from Continental 8-2001 -Grant Holmes (7/1/06) G L HOLMES Seniority date of 6/29/64 on the 9/1/86 FL/ALPA seniority list. -Jake Lamkins (10/12/06) How about a south take off in a 3 or CV-240 on a hot summer day! The CV-580 was a wonderful airplane the hardest and best flying I have ever done. Thank you for being part of it. Wish I was at the layover (MCI FL Crew Reunion) but I had a blown jug in SLN. Miss you all, but you are all remembered by me. -Grant Holmes (5/28/07) You mentioned in the Frontier News you would like to have a old Central seniority list. This is my first one. Also the first pay check stub for some interest @ $400 mo. As Captain Frost said: "What airline did he fly for?" Money, entertainer, politician, only the airline was important. Thank you Central for giving a airport kid a chance to fly. -Grant Holmes (2/11/10) It is with great sadness I am sending this e-mail to announce the death of my father, Grant Holmes. My father began his extraordinary flying career with Central Airlines in 1964 and retired as a captain with Continental Airlines based out of EWR in 2001. My father flew out of DEN when flying with Frontier Airlines and took great pride and was quite nostalgic when reminiscing about his career. My father was diagnosed with cancer in June 2010 and gave it a good fight. He is loved very much by his family and will be missed. Services will be held Friday, April 27, 2012 at 10:30am at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 32832 Saint Anthony Way, San Antonio, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations in my father's name can be made to Hernando Pasco Hospice (HPH) Foundation, Attn: Donations, 12107 Majestic Boulevard, Hudson, Florida 34667. Kindest Regards, -Vivian Holmes, Loving Daughter (4/24/12) Dear Vivian, I'm truly sorry to hear this! Grant and I had been in email contact over the years. I will get this sad news out to the Frontier family and will build him a memorial webpage soon. I'll send you the weblink when it's completed. Email me anything you want added to it. The pic you sent is a great start. My sincere condolences to you and your family. -Jake Lamkins (4/24/12) I flew co-pilot for Captain Holmes. He was such a kind, professional & respectful individual & an excellant pilot! I'm sure he will be missed by many who knew him. -Jean Smith Thompson (4/24/12) I agree with Jean Smith Thompson. -Al Beardsley (4/24/12) A gentleman ..pleasure to work with...professional. -Gretchen Densley (4/25/12) Completely agree, Gretchen...always a kind word, always a quiet unassuming Captain! -John Heimburger (4/25/12) Thank you, Jake. This will mean so much. After Dad was diagnosed with cancer and his health was worsening, one of the first things Mom started talking about was making sure to submit a posting to the Frontier newsletter. The photo I sent is of my mother, Pat, and Dad. The photo I have attached to this e-mail is of Dad and me and was taken in 1975 while we were living in Colorado. I will inquire with the family regarding additional material. Thanks again. -Vivian Holmes (4/25/12) Grant Leon Holmes, age 71 Has lived in San Antonio, FL Palmetto, FL Port Saint Lucie, FL Bradenton, FL Punta Gorda, FL Treasure Island, FL Hernando Beach, FL Saint Petersburg, FL Related to Vera Lynch Vivian Lee Holmes Patricia Ann Holmes Grant Leon Holmes -Intelius.com (5/3/12) Posted at FLacebook and the FL Club: Pilot Grant Holmes' memorial webpage is posted. http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Grant_Holmes.html Still need an obituary.
