THE LIFE OF GENE HARRISON Gene Harrison, 64, went home to be with the Lord Monday morning, September 3, 2001. Gene was born August 10, 1937 in St. Louis and spent his school years in Belle, MO. He was the first of three children born to the late Delmar and Mabel Harrison and was raised in a strong and faithful Christian family. After graduating from high school, Gene attended Ozark Bible College for one & one half years. He did life guarding and was an orderly at a local Joplin hospital. Gene served briefly in the US Army and married Joyce Grissum of Union on December 20, 1958. Three sons were born to this marriage, Greg of O'Fallon, Scott (Jan and grandchildren Ryan, Spencer & Parker) of Parker, CO and Jeff (Teresa) on Monument, CO. Until medical retirement, Gene spent 31 years in the airline industry, 29 with Frontier Airlines and 2 with Continental Airlines in a supervisory capacity. Gene and his family had lived in Lincoln, NE and Kansas City, MO before moving to O'Fallon in 1967 and becoming a part of the O'Fallon Christian Church family. Gene volunteered for OCC in many serving areas: Song Leading, Choir, Worship Committee, Sunday School Teacher, assisted Joyce in her Puppet Ministry, assisted in the construction of the present building, served as Elder, Treasurer, and currently was a Trustee. Gene entered retired life and added to his serving by folding newsletters, being a purchasing agent and serving for Ninos De Mexico.
