Regretfully, -Ace Avakian (6/5/07) Email to Phil Stalling who forwarded Ace's email: Do have have any other info on Fred such as when he flew and where he was based? I can't find him on the 1981 or 1985 ALPA seniority lists I have. -Jake Lamkins (6/5/07) Well, I can't find him on the 1986 list either ... he used to fly co-pilot for me, so I know he was with the airline ... I just got an email from Carol Pickett saying that she flew with him a lot ... maybe he was gone on medical by '86 ... he was a lot younger than me, though ... if I can come up with anything, I'll let you know -Phil Stallings (6/5/07) FRED MERCER A loving father to Krista, Stephanie and Eric; grandfather to Ali, Hannah, Sam, Nicholas, Emma, Rebecca and Maximilian, and devoted husband to Erica, Fred Mercer passed peacefully on June 1st. Joe sent me the following this morning. -Phil Stallings ========================= Hi Phil. Don't know the exact dates, but Fred must have been hired in the 66-67 time frame & retired medically in late 70s. He had severe back trouble due to long flights flying the B-47 bomber. lost track of his where abouts. he was in real estate, as I remember, lived in Aurora for a long time. -Joe Abell (6/6/07) Email to Phil and Joe Thanks for the info. Fred's seniority date is 11/6/67 on the FL/ALPA seniority lists dated 9/1/72, 9/1/81 and 9/1/85. If he took medical retirement, would he have continued to be carried on the seniority lists? There's nothing after his name about any leave on any of the three lists I found him on. -Jake Lamkins (6/6/07) Joe may correct me on this, but I don't think a pilot on Medical Retirement would still be on the seniority list since he would no longer hold a seniority number .. if he were on a "leave of absence" he would still be on the list as he would still hold a number ... -Phil Stallings (6/6/07) FAL MERCER, FRED G ALPA# 0425314 DOB 05/28/33 DOH 1967 Class DE 06/01/07 per ALPA FL List. -Jake Lamkins (7/16/12) F G MERCER Pilot seniority date of 12/27/67 per the 9/1/85 FL/ALPA Seniority List.
