Worth Southwest Airport, in 1965. I was flown bag, baggage and tool box to Kansas City Airport to work as a line mechanic on one of the old 240 Convairs. I recall some of the mechanics I worked with at Central in K.C. and are as follows: Ernest (Suck My Nose) Hartland Jr. That was his favorite saying!! Kieth Stielow, don't know if that is the right spelling, Dutch (get a bigger hammer) Ancel, Willie, can't think of his last name, was line supervisor, Clair Baer, was lead mechanic across the field in the big hanger, I can still see faces but can't recall any more names. Now that I think about it, I have amazed myself as to what and who I can recall after nearly 38 years! I would love to hear from any of the Central exes. -Scotty Boggs (5/26/05) My Dad, Ernest Hartland was a mechanic at Frontier in Kansas City (MCI) for many years. He fell off a work platform in the late 70's and landed on his head, was off work for two or three years I think then went back for a while before retiring. Despite major damage he ultimately made almost a compete recovery. Dad passed in 95. I didn't know if there was still anyone around who remembered him. -Kent Hartland (11/5/15) Welcome to our group. I found your dad in my files. He started with Central Airlines Nov 10, 1964. I started with Central the same year as a station agent. Did your dad retire before Frontier went bankrupt? My records show he flew west in 1995, age 76. Do you have his photo and/or obituary you could post here. I want to build him a memorial webpage for the Frontier Airlines website. The mechanics memorial webpage is at http://FAL-1.tripod.com/ObitsMx.html -Jake Lamkins (11/5/15) Yeah, let me see what I've got. You just made my day. -Kent Hartland (11/5/15) Ernest Hartland, MCI mechanic, 9/4/95, age 76 per Obits.html ERNEST W HARTLAND MKC MCI aircraft mechanic DOB Apr 3, 1919 DOH CEN Nov 10, 1964 Died Sep 4, 1995 at Poplar Bluff, MO, age 76 per Ken Schultz' We Remember database. He wonders if anyone remembers his dad. Ernest started at MKC with CN in Nov 1964. -Jake Lamkins (11/5/15) I remember Ernie well. I worked with him around 1972 to 1974 Probably.at MKC and MCI. He lived in Tracy, Mo. Which was the county seat of the county where MCI airport is. I can't remember the year, but he took a vacation, when he came back to work I asked him what he did on vacation. He said "oh, nothing I guess, I did get elected mayor of Tracy." I said, "I didn't know you were running, Ernie." He said "I wasn't but I got more write-in votes than both of the other guys." He was a joy to work with. Always even tempered and easy going. A really great guy. -Bill Guthrie (11/5/15) FLacebook - FL Club FLight West: Ernie Hartland MKC/MCI aircraft mechanic Ernie Hartland's memorial webpage has been upgraded: http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Ernie_Hartland.html Still need an obituary for Ernie. -Jake Lamkins (11/19/15) That is so special.
