ERNIE ALDERETE 1974 - 1976? FLIGHT ATTENDANT DEN FLacebook There has been some talk about who the first male flight attendant was. The class of Jun 29, 1974 is the first one in which I find men and there are two of them: Darrell Anderson and Ernie Alderete. Does anyone know of an earlier one? -Jake Lamkins (3/11/14) Henry Greathouse Jake, thanks for posting the picture. Ernie was the one I was thinking of. Andy had told me there was another guy in his class when I met him and he was gone by the time I started in 76. (3/11/14) Thanks for posting this picture, Jake. This was my graduating class. Andy is an artist now and sadly Ernie passed away many years ago. They were for sure the first male flight attendants that Frontier hired. Brings back memories. -Carolyn Lutz (3/11/14) Anybody know when Ernie died, circumstances, obit, etc. so I can build him a memorial webpage. He is not on the 2/1/81 FL/AFA Seniority List. -Jake Lamkins (3/11/14) Carolyn Lutz Ernie died in the early 1980s I believe. His sister Chela and I were best friends fro many years and roommates but I have lost touch with her also. Sorry that is all I know about Ernie. (3/11/14) Was he from ELP and about 30 when he died? Full name Ernesto? -Jake Lamkins (3/11/14) Yes he was from El Paso and he would of been around 30 years old when he died. His full name was Ernesto. Everyone says there were male flight attendants before this class but I remember Frontier telling Andy and Ernie they were the first. -Carolyn Lutz (3/11/14) I found Ernie's SSDI record and will build him a webpage. -Jake Lamkins (3/11/14) FLacebook - FL Club DEN flight attendant Ernie Alderete's memorial webpage has been posted. http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Ernie_Alderete.html Ernie and Darrell "Andy" Anderson were the first male flight attendants hired at Frontier since the purser/steward days of Monarch, Challenger and Central Airlines in the 1940s. Still need an obituary for Ernie, a better photo and when he left the company. -Jake Lamkins (3/12/14) I will try to reach Chela (his sister) and if I do I will let you know what I find. Thanks for posting this about Ernie. He was such a kind person. -Carolyn Lutz (3/12/14)
