ELLES WILLIAMS 1967 - 1974 FLIGHT ATTENDANT DAL DFW Elles Williams passed away November 8th. She was 69 years old. I am not sure when Elles started flying with Central, but she was there when I started with Frontier in March of 1968. Elles and I became friends shortly after and we were eventually room mates for about a year. We lived in a duplex with my two dogs, Fangette (Elles named her) and Toshka. I was laughing with her sister about our decoupage poster of Burt Reynolds (you girls know the one I mean) over our fireplace. We thought we were sooooo cool. Elles flew until somewhere around 1973 I think. She then lived in Mexico for a while and then California until ending up back by her family and in real estate in Albuquerque. I used to go visit her fairly often and she would load up her two little dogs and come up to Golden for a week or so. She started having some health problems several years ago and unfortunately it became hard for her to travel. She was loved by many and was very close to her family. She will be missed. If you would like to send a card to the family you may mail it to her sister: Linda Merrell 904 Oso Grande Ct N.E. Albuquerque, NM 87111. There is no service or memorial planned at this time. If you would like to remember Elles with a donation, she was an animal lover. National Mill Dog Rescue, P.O. Box 88468, Colorado Springs, CO. 80908 would be a choice or a favorite rescue group of yours. -Lanette Duncan (11/20/16) ==================================================== Lanette also forwarded this note from Elles's sister: ==================================================== I am trying to reach people who I know would need to have this information. I have some awful news. We lost Elles last week. Her health decline this past year was so quick. She had chronic, but treatable, problems in the spring and was put in hospice care by late summer. Hospice allowed her to be at home which was really important to both of us. Again, however, she had a rapid decline. We could see that she was getting sicker, but then, she was talking with her hospice nurse and laughing with Kimberly and me one week and completely disoriented the next. I knew my little sister better than anyone, and I really believe that once she became truly bedridden, she was just ready. She loved her friends so much, and I know that you loved her right back. I am digging through her things to find contact information for other friends, so please check with other friends you have in common that they have gotten this sad news. I'm not doing so well with all this yet, but I will be, in time. Right now, I just miss her so much. I'm so sorry to have to be giving you this news. Take care of yourselves, and keep Elles in your hearts. Affectionately, -Linda Merrell (11/19/16) E WILLIAMS Flight attendant seniority date of 3/18/67 per the Aug 1974 FL/AFA Seniority List. -Jake Lamkins (11/20/16) Lanette, I just got word about Elles Williams and I want to build her a FL memorial webpage. Do you have any photos or remembrances of her to share? Thanks, -Jake Lamkins (11/20/16) Most of the photos are so old and so far away that you can't see. Here are two. One is Elles at one of our Dallas FAL reunions. The other is Elles and me at Snow Bird ski area in probably 1972. Elles on the left and me on the right. -Lanette Duncan (11/21/16) FLacebook - FL Club FLight West: Elles Williams DAL DFW flight attendant Elles Williams memorial webpage is posted at http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Elles_Williams.html Not much info on Elles. Post anything you have about her. -Jake Lamkins (11/22/16) Yesterday Elles Williams passed away. She had been very ill with COPD for years and had other health issues as well. Her sister has been living with her for years and called Lanette to let her know. I hadn't seen Elles for a long time, but when I did she always looked great and was a barrell of fun. I believe she was around 69 or 70 years old - just can't remember these things well anymore. Elles and I spent a lot of time together with our horses in Dallas. I still remember her wanting me to go with her to look at a horse that was sick and the man wanted to just give it to her. (I think he was a passenger she got to talking to) We went barn visiting and here came the cowboy asking "do you gals want to take some horses and ride around the barn here?" Oh yeah. By the time we got back he had asked us to come back another day and ride some more - and "what is your favorite color?" We were back in no time and it didn't take him long to find 2 horses of our favorite colors. That was just the beginning of our whole new loves & lives! Mine stepped on my foot and twisted around once before moving his. My foot was put in an ice bucket and off we went to a rodeo. Next, sometime in the not too distant future I decided to go riding around bareback (Elles' fault) and he ran right under those (I think mesquite trees with long needles) I hung on for dear life, but came out looking exactly like I'd been crucified with blood dripping down my forehead. I will never forget how much Elles could laugh herself silly. So, I felt good anyway and weeks later I went riding again with Terry Sheffield (? pilot). I went bareback but this time the horse was having so much fun he galloped around and then gave a big buck. That was the 2 broken arms experience. (Elles waited a day before roaring with laughter some more). And I'm not sure Lanette could wait. I learned my lesson and began English riding lessons and never had another accident riding my 2 thoroughbreds over many a field and fence....always with a saddle. Life was sure good then. I hope Elles is doing her barrell racing up in heaven, as that is what she'd want more than anything! Please send the message on to FL friends. Lanette will be posting on facebook. (I haven't used facebook for years so miss lots of news I'm sure) I'm sorry to have to send this note. -Carol Wolfe (11/23/16)
