I just learned that FL/CO/UA flight attendant Doug Calvird 
passed away in his home in Humble, TX on Christmas. 
He was 65 & I believe he retired last year. 
I understand there will be a memorial & fundraiser 
for his final expenses at Chili's on Saturday, 1/11/14 in Atascocita. 
The memorial starts at 11am but if you go later & 
tell the server, 10% will go towards the fundraiser.
 If anyone's in/near Houston tomorrow (1/11/14), 
please join me at Chili's in Atascocita for his memorial & fundraiser.

I flew with Doug many times and knew him well. 
So sorry to hear of his passing. Was he ill?

Oh, darn. They had lots of photos on a poster board, 
but I didn't even think of taking a picture. 
I didn't recognize the other people there, 
but we did know the same other people.

Here's some information on Doug Calvird.  
He stared out as an agent with Frontier Airlines in 1975.  
(Seniority lists show 12/14/78)
In 1980 he became a Flight Attendant.
He was born Dec 29, 1948 in Sturgus, S.D.  He grew up in Custer, S.D.  
He moved to Colorado in 1967, graduated from High School in Denver.
He went to college in Fort Collins, was a music major, and played a harp.
He has a Sister in Lakewood Colorado, named Carmel Pietrafeso. 
His dear friend and flying partner was Virginia Mabee.   
Doug flew with Continental Airlines from 1987 to 2008. 
(Obituary says 2012)
Doug was a great guy, always worked F/C aisle and was a top notch F/A, 
treating these customers like gold, he was the best.  
He was a friend to a lot of us, you couldn't help but love him, a kind man.
It was such a shock when he passed away Christmas day 2013.  
He didn't feel well and neighbors called 911.
