DONNA HICKS WILLIAMS 1966 - 1985 FLIGHT ATTENDANT SLC DEN WIFE OF DEN PILOT ROY WILLIAMS JR FL introduced DC-9-80 service on May 20, 1982 with flights to SNA LAS and DEN. By July a fleet of three -80s were scheduled on flights linking LAS SNA LAX DEN ATL MCI DSM. The three Super 80s cost $22M each and with spare engines and equipment the total was nearly $82M. Company officials said they were purchased to supplement the fleet of 46 Boeing 737-200s. More were added later, mostly by leasing. FL was the first airline to successfully demonstrat the evacuation of the aircraft using only three flight attendants who did it on the first try. They were Marla Cady, Hattie Prater and Peggy Sauer. Additionally, FL was one of only two airlines to demonstarte the evacuation of the aircraft using four flight attendants: Mike Haren, Vickie Beals, Ruth Pitts and Donna Williams. -FL NEWS (Jul 1982) She has a recipe in 1979 FL Pilots' Wives Cookbook. -Jake Lamkins (11/26/04) Talked to Peggy Sauer earlier and got the following sad news. Send along to those on your FAL list. Just a sad note to let you know that Donna Hicks Williams {Roy William's wife - he passed away in 1986) has passed away this am in a hospital in Sun City-- they will do an autopsy on her---- they think she had a massive stroke. She is going to be cremated & taken back to Helena, Mt. I'll let you know more when I hear-- remember to tell those we love that we love them!!!!!! no regrets!!! -Joanne Griffin (1/13/07) Was Donna also a FL employee? If so, I'll set up a memorial webpage for her. -Jake Lamkins (1/13/07) Yes, she was a flight attendant. I think she started around late '65 or early '66. She was a few numbers senior to me. If I can find an old seniority list, that I have somewhere, I can probably give you a better date. I don't remember when she retired. I think she might have been there until the bankruptcy but can't say for sure. I'll try to get more information. -Joanne Griffin (1/13/07) The only AFA seniority list I have is the 2/1/86 that Bonnie Dahl sent me. It shows you at #31, J GRIFFIN, 9/13/66. There is not a Hicks or Williams ahead of you so Donna must have retired by then. -Jake Lamkins (1/13/07) O.K. Then I guess she did retire before the bankruptcy. If I can find out any information I'll let you know. Maybe others in the group will have some information. -Joanne Griffin (1/14/07) DONNA MAE WILLIAMS (Age: 64) PEORIA, AZ SCOTTSDALE, AZ ROY B WILLIAMS -Intelius.com (1/14/07) Donna M. Williams 8337 W. Donna started as a FA around 1966 and appears to have retired before the bankruptcy since she's not on the 2/1/86 AFA seniority list. -Jake Lamkins (1/14/07) This is another Frontier FA that just passed away, married to Roy Williams one of our former pilots. This girl, Donna and I went to High School together in Helena, Montana. Great Gal, don't remember what year she retired, but quite a while ago. I will send more details when I get them. -Bonnie Dahl (1/15/07) Thanks, Bonnie. Was Hicks her maiden name? About when did she marry Roy? Do you know when she started? She's not on the 2/1/86 seniority list you sent me. -Jake Lamkins (1/15/07) She started flying in the 1960's but junior to me and I can't remember when she married Roy Williams. I have her Sister's address, maybe I can find out or if they send me obituary I will send it. I have to go back to work on 17th so may be a little time before I can get info to you. -Bonnie Dahl (1/16/07) Diane Smith & Donna's sister{Mary Lou} are at the cremation place as I e-mail you. Donna was 64 - her 65th would have been on April 30th - way tooooooo young for all of this! Also talked to Joanne & Bob in CO & I guess Dick Cochran is having some trouble with his prostate cancer so they are going to get more aggressive with his treatment! geez!!!!!! I don't like this getting older & our friends & old friends are starting to leave us. 4 of us sat around yesterday afternoon & told stories, cried & laughed about Donna & now she is with her Roy... man, did that girl miss him all these 20 years he has been gone... lots of good memories & now shes not sick anymore. -Peggy Sauer (1/14/07) Donna has heart & lung issues for a long time but it just got worse in a big hurry We all knew she didn't have years left but we never thought weeks!! She was on full time oxygen at home & didn't even walk around the house or do much of anything. I did her grocery shopping for her & did her washing & bed sheets every week. She insisted on doing her ironing but she was almost too weak to stand for very long. She was one stubborn gal!!!! Fond memories & then some good laughs help with the shock of it all. -Peggy Sauer (1/16/07) DONNA HICKS SLC flight attendant per the 7/15/66 Personnel Roster. D M WILLIAMS Flight attendant seniority date of 6/5/66 per the 2/1/81 FL/AFA Seniority List. She is not on the 2/1/86 list. -Jake Lamkins (11/4/11) DONNA M WILLIAMS Born 30 Apr 1942 Died 13 Jan 2007 Age 64 At 85375 Sun City West, AZ SSN issued in Montana -SSDI (11/4/11) Posted at the FL Club and FLacebook: Pilot Roy Williams and flight attendant Donna Hicks Williams Both their memorial webpages have been updated and cross referenced. Capt Roy Williams and Donna Roy’s retirement flight 1985 Darel Lynn Ladd, Bonnie Dahl, Roy Williams, Camille Huisken, Sandy Whistler and Donna Williams -Bonnie Dahl (11/6/11) Diane Smith believes Donna retired in 1985 a short time before Roy did. -Bonnie Dahl (11/16/11) Subject: Photo of pilot Roy Williams and f/a wife, Donna. I was in Winslow, Az yesterday. We walked to the corner that the Eagles made famous. I just happened to see a museum sign and we went in. THERE in the first display case were aviation related stories and pictures. I glanced at this photo-started to walk off- STOPPED IN MY TRACKS- turned around and said 'OMG, that's Roy and Donna'! The little museum was great. LaPosada Hotel is a MUST, as is eating in the Turquoise Room there! Pass this along! See you all at the PHX picnic! -Pat Williams Harter (10/15/14) Cool! I copied-in Jake. He'll want that for Roy and Dona's O-page. Roy could speak fluent Navajo and his ashes are the only whiteman's scattered on Navajo Peak (sacred to the Navajo Nation). Like you, I flew with both and miss 'em. Roy rode "shot-gun" for my 580 check-out in 1971. La Posada & the "T"room is a favorite. We go out of our way to stay/eat there. -Billy Walker (10/15/14) FLacebook - FL Club SLC DEN flight atendant Donna Hicks Williams' memorial webpage has been updated. http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Donna_Hicks_Williams.html Photo added of her and husband Roy. -Jake Lamkins (1/19/15) Great pictures. She was a neat lady. -Bobbie Karr (1/19/15) Yes, she was a neat, we did the mini evac. -Ruth Pitts (1/20/15)
