DON EHRHART 1949 - 1962 VICE PRESIDENT-ADMINISTRATION, BOARD MEMBER FTW ACF GSW SON-IN-LAW OF BOARD CHAIRMAN KIRK JOHNSON AND BROTHER-IN-LAW OF BOARD MEMBER KIRK JOHNSON, JR SON'S OBITUARY Donald Bond Ehrhart Jr., 66, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016. Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday at All Saints Anglican Church, Weatherford. Interment: 1:30 p.m. in Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Greenwood. The world has lost a larger-than-life man, far too soon. After a brief but valiant fight, Bond Ehrhart has passed. How will we manage without this gentle, giving, opinionated, obnoxious, and colorful soul? His love of life, family, scotch, cigars, friends, and Christ - not necessarily in that order - were unsurpassed. Bond cherished socializing and had a knack for bringing all walks of life together. He always found the good in everybody he met and loved to help anybody and everybody who asked. A more generous person, there is not. One of his best qualities was giving hell to all he knew. It's safe to say if you weren't on the receiving end, you weren't in his inner circle. Bond's greatest joy, above all else, was family. He steadfastly stood by his children and grandchildren. He fought fiercely for their happiness. There has never been a prouder parent and grandparent than he. There are not words to express the emptiness, the void, the massive hole in our hearts that he has left. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth Mitsch and Donald Bond Ehrhart Sr. Survivors: Daughter, Arden Jones and husband, Cullen; son, Mitsch Ehrhart and wife, Teri; grandchildren, Addyson Jones, Rhys Ehrhart, Josh Jones and Zach Jones; sister, Cynthia Bearden; companion and love, Sally Young; former wife, Melvia Ehrhart; and best friend, Peggy Pekham. He is not in the 1963 Annual report. I do not have a copy of the 1962 Annual Report. He is shown as vp-administration in 1949 but only as a board member afterwards. He left the Central Board when his father-in-law Kirk Johnson sold his majority interest in Jun 1962. -Jake Lamkins (1/2/18) Don is mentioned and pictured several times in the 1943 yearbook for Tulane University. -https://tuarchives.tulane.edu/sites/default/files/tuarchives/yearbooks/jambalayayearboo48edit.pdf His name is variously misspelled as Ekrhart and Earhart. For example, the 1940 Tulane yearbook has his name as Earhart, https://tuarchives.tulane.edu/sites/default/files/tuarchives/yearbooks/jambalayayearboo45edit.pdf and the Social Security folks have it as Ekrhart. He married Kirk Johnson's daughter Ann in 1944 and was involved with Central Airlines by 1949. Their son Donald Bond Ehrhart Jr. was born in 1950. Bond was his mother's maiden name. At some point afterwards Don and Ann were divorced and Ann subsequently married William Mitsch who also served on the Central Board of Directors. I could find no information on what Don did after Central Airlines. -Jake Lamkins (1/3/18) FLacebook - FL Club FLight West: Don Ehrhart GSW CN board member Don Ehrhart's memorial webpage is posted at http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Don_Ehrhart.html He was part of the Kirk Johnson family that controlled Central from the start in 1949 until 1962. -Jake Lamkins (1/4/18)
