DICK CUMMINS 1959 - 1986 STATION AGENT, SALES REPRESENTATIVE, DISTRICT SALES MANAGER, CITY MANAGER FMN GJT BIL MKC LNK MDW OMA DSM Richard Dix called me last night to let me know that Leo Maldonado passed away on 1/24/02. What a shock. He was 58, living in Las Vegas. That was all the info that he had about it. It also occurred to me that a number of years ago, Richard T. Cummins, who at one time was Sales Manager in Omaha, died of cancer. He was living either in Kansas City or St. Louis, don't remember which, and don't know any more about it that that. Makes you feel lucky to be alive. -Mary Robertson Harter (1/29/02) Posted at FL Club: Richard Cummins died a few years ago according to Mary. He was OMA manager at one time. Does anyone have info on dates, age, cause, etc.? Was he from Colorado? -Jake Lamkins (1/30/02) Re: Richard Cummins died a few years ago; Jake...Dick was manager at DSM when FL went out in Aug. 86... after FL he had sign business before his death...his senior agent was Larry Stivers.. Larry now works for UAL at DSM...he would have all your info... I think he worked for Dick after FL. -Richard Dix (2/1/02) RICHARD T CUMMINS Born 14 Jun 1934 Died 14 May 1993 SSN issued in Colorado -Social Security Death Index (2/1/02) I was glad to see this web site, found out about it from my brother,Tom, who also worked for Frontier. I started on February 7, 1959 and worked until April 22, 1972. I was transfered to Kansas City as Regional Sales Manager, January 1965. I was involved in setting up Board of Director meeting in KC, our first ticket office in the Muehlebach Hotel, first jet service, setting up the sales operation in St. Louis along with a ticket office. It was my suggestion for the new B-727s name of Arrow Jet. It was great working for Lew Dymond (the best president Frontier ever had), Paul Burke, Larry Sills, Ken Smith and Tom Makurat. Some of the sales people I can remember, Dick Cummings (my first sales rep) Paul Glidwell, Jim Pliler, Jerry Bacon. -Herb Schmidt (8/1/05) Dick Cummins was the Station Manager. Larry Stivers, Bob Brewer, Jerry Ledbetter ? were Supervisors. I know Dick and Larry were going to start their own company, but don't know what happened. A few went to work for NW in DSM........Larry Stivers is now working again.......For UA in DSM. I was the only one that went to CO out of the DSM group. I was a station agent from 85-86. -Tim Dyer (2/23/06) Posted at FLacebook and the FL Club: DSM city manager Dick Cummins' memorial webpage has been upgraded. http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Dick_Cummins.html Several items added and moved to a non-ad site. -Jake Lamkins (4/10/13) Dick started Cummins Instant Sign Company after Frontier folded in Des Moines and ran it until his death. I worked for Dick at the sign company and ran the day to day operations. He was one great guy to know and work for. -Larry Stivers (4/10/13) I met Dick when he was in Lincoln. He introduced me to Frontier Airlines and in 1965, I went to work in reservations. I had wanted to be a flight attendant but he talked me out of it saying it was too hard of a life. He felt reservations would be a better fit. I left Frontier in 1966 and returned in 1967 and was there until 1986 when they closed the doors. -Shirley Wade-Hayhurst (4/10/13) I commuted from DSM to DEN for a few years (83-86). I was a mechanic in Denver at the time. The folks at DSM always took care of me and made sure I somehow got on the flight. Dick arranged for me to park my airport car at the FBO next door. My condolences to his family. -Paul Ruberg (4/11/13) I remember Dick from my days at LNK. Sorry to hear of this! -Jeff Mills (BIS-LNK) (4/16/13)
