DAVE WESTON 1965 - 1986 STATION AGENT, SENIOR STATION AGENT, CUSTOMER SERVICE SUPERVISOR PUB DEN BOI I was in Boise the week of Apr 9, 2002 and talked to JL Olson who used to work in PHX. He, Dave Weston, and several others from DEN opened BOI in '79. JL said that Dave had passed away either in Dec of 2001 or in Jan of 2002. Dave had had a heart attack a few years back and died of another one while helping his daughter working on her garage. -Jim Lane (4/17/02) Posted at FL Club: Dave Weston died Nov. 30, 2001! I asked an oldtime agent about it - thinking it might have been connected with the Bill Kilian death. The agent, whose name I've forgotten, told me that was the Dave Weston memorial bag cart. Back before Dave transferred to BOI, there had been a weapon discovered on the cart. Dave was in the area when it was discovered. He immediately took charge, saying, "I know all about guns." A few moments after he took it, the weapon discharged, scaring everybody but, luckily, nobody was hurt. Dave was ridiculed about the incident til it became a VERY sore spot and wasn't mentioned unless you wanted an aggressive Dave in your face. Dave was a very opinionated, aggressive, macho guy when I first met him. It was interesting to see how he changed (for the better) as he had to face all the issues confronting us in the 1983-84 negotiations when he was on the Negotiating Committee. It was a very educational experience for him and as a result he grew as a person and saw more of the big picture. -Jake Lamkins (1/12/07) The Great White Cart Hunter Long guns in unlocked cases were on occasion a problem. One Denver ramp agent found a black-powder rifle in this manner. He opened the case, looked the firearm over, picked it up and pointed it at a freight cart. He cocked the hammer and pulled the trigger. Much to his surprise, and to the dismay of others, the rifle discharged and drilled a neat hole in the cart’s side. The agent became known for a time as “The Great White-Cart Hunter.” -FRONTIER DAYS (11/1/08) D C WESTON Station agent seniority date of 1/10/67, emp# 09323, on the 1/1/86 FL/ALEA seniority list. A May 1965 CN Skywriter article notes he had just started at PUB. Dave must have gone into management awhile and lost some seniority. -Jake Lamkins (11/10/08) D C WESTON Emp# 09323, Org# 3482-BOI DOB 8/25/43 DOH 6/10/66 Station agent seniority date of 1/10/67 per the Oct 1986 FL/ALEA Seniority List. The May 1965 CN Skywriter welcomes him as a new employee at PUB. A Nov 1970 item shows a promotion into management. That would explain the 1967 ALEA seniority date. I do not know why the DOH is shown as 6/10/66 when the May 1965 article shows him starting then. Perhaps there was a break in service. -Jake Lamkins (12/29/15) FLacebook - FL Club FLight West: Dave Weston PUB DEN BOI station agent Dave Weston's memorial webpage has been upgraded: http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Dave_Weston.html Moved to a non-ad website and updated it.
