CHUCK SCHLENER 1955 - 1968 STATION AGENT, ASSISTANT STATION MANAGER, SUPERINTENDENT-FLEET SERVICE BIS OLF COD SHR DEN I received word today that Chuck has flew westward into the sunset. He also worked at Wolf Point, Cody, Sheridan & DEN. When he left FAL I think he was Sup. of Fleet Serv. in DEN. -Julie Schlener McMurtry (8/4/07) Chuck's memorial webpage is at the FL weblink below. -Jake Lamkins (8/4/07) Maybe it was the 737. I'll have mom check and see if she has any of the memorabelia from the flt. I know they gave commemorative coins that she and dad probably kept. I really don't know much about the history except what I have started reading from the website. I found really fun stuff so I am interested in checking if there are any books, or web pages avail on the web or to check out or borrow. I am in IAH. If you know of any could you let me know. Also, I my mother has some things that were my fathers that I think would be nice to donate or endow to the museum in my fathers honor. I have an unused FAL ticketing plate that was found in the Continental Reservation building/hanger on Smith Road, the West building, which was the orig CO bldg. John Hatch, our Res director knew my father worked for Frontier and gave it to me when the building was renovated. It was found by some construction workers between the 2nd floor and the hanger ceiling whe the building was remodeled about 12 years ago. It's in perfect condition. Also, my parents jewelry store, Schlener Jewelry located at 102nd and N. Washington in Northglenn has done a lot of repairs on pins and wings, etc. for old Frontier employees, but I don't know how to let anyone know they do this kind of repair work. They have repaired, replaced stones and converted things into pins, necklaces and rings and just cleaned and polished things up. I have been able to see some of their finished work and it is nice-something to be proud of and pass down. It was nice hearing from someone. I don't get to Denver with much free time but will check the newletter and see what is happening and when and try to get up. Someone sent my mother a paper copy of the memorial. Not sure who put the info in or wrote it but our family was honored that he was remembered after he died. It was a kind act from someone who cared for him and the group as a whole. Aug 4, when you sent this, was my fathers birthday. It was a nice memory when I read the date you posted this too. Thanks, -Julie Schlener McMurtry (8/11/07) Hi Julie, Great hearing from you. I'm the one who sent the memorial to your mom. Chuck was subscribing to the FL newsletter and the memorial was in it. The issue after his death, I believe, was the last issue of his subscription. I'm always recommending the FL memkorabilia be donated to an air museum. There is a great one in your area at HOU airport which FL served. I updated your dad's webpage again. Regards, -Jake Lamkins (8/25/07) C D SCHLENER Seniority date of 5/18/55 on the 11/1/55 FL station seniority list. -Jake Lamkins (8/25/07) Posted at FLacebook and the FL Club: DEN fleet superintendent Chuck Schlener's memorial weboage has been updated. Three items added. -Jake Lamkins (12/19/12)
